Very Bad News - I am leaving for a while again...

    Hi gang,

I wanted to post that I am taking some needed time off... We've been through so much since our move to California from today through this past Memorial Day...

Instance 1: http://forums.gaywidewebmasters.com/...31&postcount=1 We put her down.

We rescued another dog last week, a 8wk old puppy.

Yesterday, he started showing symptoms of what the vet thought was Parvo. He tested positive. HOWEVER, we discovered today that he tested positive for Parvo because he's in between his 2nd and 3rd stage of puppy shots. He does not have Parvo... It's something worse....

Today, he was doing great! Playing, running, having fun! Doing what a puppy does best. I left to Walmart for about an hour to get some stuff. I came back home after leaving him for a little less than an hour. Before I left I put him in his play pen, when I got back he was lifeless. He was in extremely bad state.

Right now, he is stable. Since 11AM this morning he's started coming around. He's blinking his eyes now, breathing better, his gums look better, he's stretching out his legs, but he still has a long ways to go. His chances of living or passing is 50/50. The next 72 hours are very critical.

After putting down the other puppy not even a month ago, now this... I'm taking it pretty hard.

We do think he's going to pull through. He's a 9wk old Terrier mix with possibly doxan (not sure how to spell it).

The animal hospital we took him to this morning is keeping him for the next 72 hours for observation. We spent all day with him today. Tonight at 9PM (3.5 hours from now) we will know more on his well-being.

IF he comes home, he will be very fragile and will be on an IV. Someone will have to be with him 24 hours a day. He's in a very crucial state.

His symptoms right now are what looks like Rat Poison. However there are none around for him to get into. The vet does not know what it is yet however they're taking a liver biopsy this evening and more extensive blood work. We'll have results and will know more in the morning.

Please keep your fingers crossed for us.

After going through this twice, I need some time off to "recuperate" myself and be certain this puppy gets the care that he needs.

I'm taking about 10 days away. I will be checking my emails periodically.

Blake will be covering for me. You can email him directly at: blake (at) amadvideos.com. He will be covering for our Anti-Piracy Program with CombatPiracyNow.com and will be managing our affiliates.

I hope all of you have a fantastic weekend.

Sending healing vibes to your puppy ... and to you as well. I have had similiar experiences in my years of being owned by my beloved pets and while they have brought me the greatest joy they have also been the source of some serious heart ache. My version of having kids I guess. Same sort of love/pain relationship.

If it is a doxie and terrier mix, he will be one energetic and lovable pooch with a heart 4 times his size. What color is he, and does he have a wirehair type coat that just kinda sticks out everywhere?

This is little Oscar... Taken about 8AM today! See the difference?

We just don't understand it! This morning at 9:30AM, I left to go to walmart and grab some food from McDonalds. When I left, he was playing, he was being a puppy! Ripping and roaring through the house! He was awesome.
When I left, for his protection I put him in his play pen that's about 4ft x 5ft in the dining room. We do that for his safety because he's still chewing.
When I got back I brought everything in, in between going out to the car to bring things in, I stopped to pet him.
After I was done carrying everything in, I pet him, he didn't lift up his head. I seen part of his tongue sticking out, his eyes clothes, barely breathing, he was lifeless! I called the vet, said I need a doctor NOW! They put me on hold for 2 minutes, came back on and said a doctor would be with me in a minute. I said, "I don't have a minute, I need a doctor NOW!" She said, "Excuse Me" I explained to them I think he's dead! She said, "Bring him in now!"

When I took him in, the whites around his eyes were very bloody (not bloodshot, worse than that). He had bruising on his right ear. He was not blinking his eyes, moving, nothing. They rushed an IV into him. Started him on a series of meds. They got him on Vitamin K, Vitamin B, pain medication, in case he went into shock they gave him a med for that. Blood was coming out of his mouth, he was drueling. This puppy was in a horrible condition!

We stayed with him from the time we got him there until 1:30. They kept him / he is still on them. About noon, he start progressing... He started voluntary trying to blink his eyes, his ears started perking up when he heard sounds, his eyes weren't as bloody, the bleeding from the mouth stopped, the bruising on his ear went down.

He's still laying as if he's helpless. This is so heart wrenching.

We went back in at 3:30. I brought his favorite squeeky toy, and his dog bed for him. Squeeking the toy, he perked his ears. I seen him lick his mouth. The tongue wasn't hanging out anymore, the bleeding stopped, the bruising went down on his ear. He was still not moving. His breathing was better. He was taking deeper breaths. I did see him stretch his legs which he did not do before.

He still has a 50/50 chance of making it or unfortunately god doing his toll on him. Right now he's in critical condition and is under 24-7 supervision.

They did do X-rays, found nothing. Everything was normal.
They did do blood work. His liver levels were a little bit on the low side, they did give him meds for that. About 2:30 this afternoon they became normal.
They are treating him as if he has the following:
    Digested Rat Poison
    Went into Shock
Has Distemper / Parvo (even though they believe he does not, but just to be on the safe side)

    He's on 2 IV's...
    1) Flushes out his entire system.
    2) Medication: fluids, Vitamin K, Vitamin B, meds to treat shock, pain medication, an antibiotic.

    So, that's where he's at.

It's 9:06PM now. The vet said he would give us a report at 9PM. Once hear the status on him, I will know more.

However the blood work they did, they were checking EVERYTHING. Unfortunately, they only had availability to do so much... They expidited some of the blood to a lab and they will have those results first thing in the morning.

Nobody knows what is wrong with him right now. The positive is that he's coming around. Maybe 0.5%. But at least he's trying and something is working. And he is improving even though it's just a little.

The vet unlocks their doors at 8AM. We're leaving here in the morning at 8AM to see him and spend time with him, bring him a couple more of his favorite toys.

I told the vet to do EVERYTHING HE CAN for this puppy. He has a full life to live.

Today's treatments were just under $1,000. However, luckily we dropped over $1200 in the past 30 days on Baby and one of my others. So they're allowing us to do unrestricted payment arrangements (pay whatever you can each week, even if it's $1.00, show good faith)... So thank god they are letting us do that.

Please keep your fingers crossed. We're so scared for him. He has a full life ahead of him. He needs that. And I can't bare putting another PUPPY down in less than a month! It's so hard. It's tearing me up.

At least I can say they were rescued from being killed by wild life, mother nature, the 100+ degree temperatures, etc. Makes me wonder if people really do care about another living creature. People are so cruel hearted.

Anyways, please keep your fingers crossed for us. We need the support for this little guy.

Just received the report from the vet... It's actually good news...

He's trying to sit up, he is moving around just a bit, not much, his gums have turned almost perfect nice and pink as any healthy dogs should. The drueling has stopped. The bleeding has stopped. His breathing is normal. He's holding his head up a bit now but can't for too long. The fact he's trying to move around and all of these good things tell at least myself that he's fighting and he may come through this just fine. The doctor said he's about 2% better than he was this morning but there's still a long way to go. His condition is still critical but not as it was at 3:30 today. They still don't know what this is that he has. They're crossing their fingers that the bloodwork results will tell them in the morning.

I'll be going in there right at 8AM when they unlock their doors to see the pup. Find out the results (if they have them by then), take him his favorite toys, etc.

But this was good news tonight. The doctor is still scared there's a chance that he may not make it. If he continues to progress through the night, there's a very strong chance that he will.

I really truly appreciate your support! Thank you! It means a lot!

    Thanks Luke!

Just got home from seeing the puppy... He's doing a little better... He's lifting his head up, this morning he was wagging his tail such as lifting it up trying to wag. I seen him lick his lips twice. He's still very weak. Blood work came back fine, there's no poisons. They just do not know what is wrong with him! But they have him on an IV injecting him with a series of antibiotics, vitamins, fluids, nutritions, things like that. So there's a chance he'll pull through. But they're all puzzled of what it is. So they're treating him for anything possible. And they are trying everything that they possibly can.
He's still extremely weak, he can't open his eyes.

The positive is that another doctor thoroughly looked through his teeth and surprisingly his adult teeth have just started coming in which means he's about 4 months.

If he is 4 months, he has a stronger chance of pulling through. But he still has a very long mile to go.

As soon as I find out what is the outcome (coming home or the worse), that's when I'm leaving for a bit. Right now I'm here for about 4 hours and checking emails and such from home. I'm going to see the pup at: 8AM when they unlock their doors, noon, and 3:30 just before they lock their doors.

Still keep your fingers crossed, we're not out of the woods yet...

    Big hugs to you guys!

Just got back from the Vet.... They did call in a blood specialist. She's working with him. They still have no clue what's wrong with him. However, they are treating him still for the worst.
I took his favorite toy in there, he responded to it, wagged his tail once, sniffed it, moved his head on it moving it with his nose.
Just in case, they did bring in some plasma in case his protein levels drop. At this time levels look good. But they wanted the plasma just in case things take a turn. They're just clueless of what's going on so he's still being reviewed by a specialist. He also licked my arm which was completely heart wrenching. He's getting better but time is still crucial. The doc said every 24 hours gives them more reason to keep pulling him through this and a better chance at making it. So he is fighting. He's trying.

Except for the white chest, he looks just like a wirehair dachshund! I do pray he pulls through. I had a little gal that looked a lot like him and she brought me many years of sheer joy, love, and devotion.

    Keep us posted.

I can't thank you enough for your support. This is really a rough time.

I'm going there again at 3:30PM (PST) in about an hour for now before they lock their doors at 4:00.

Someone will be checking on him tonight through Monday morning every 4 hours. I only get to see him for about 2 minutes at a time because he really needs to be on the IV meds. He's in a ward by himself in a cage so that he doesn't pass this or whatever off to the others.

So, I'll keep you posted in about an hour when I get back. Then I will get a phone call every 4 hours. I'll keep you posted.

Okay! Good news! The blood specialist for Canine's found a name for what he has! He has: Zombie Apocalypse Virus which is worse than rabies but is not agressive as rabies. It attacks the blood stream causing bleeding of the nose, eyes, rectal, penis / vagina, things like that.

They are treating him. The first 5 days are very critical. He will be in the hospital at least until next Friday. Even then he may not come home.

In 36 hours he's made a huge change. He's trying to sit up now, but can't and only for a second because he's very weak. The treatment for Zombie Apocalypse is very similar to treating a dog for Extreme Parvo. It's that dangerous. He's fighting still. A half hour ago the doctor called, he's doing well and is fighting this.

The virus for this Zombie Apocalypse Virus is very similar as Parvo. However, we have to bleach our house and property as well as every where he has been daily for 4 consecutive days. This virus is airborne just as Parvo and Distemper is. Except it can take a dogs life FAST! Other animals carry the virus such as birds, squirrels, wild life species. However, dogs under 2 years old are most prone to it. It's not caused from a bite. It's not caused from anything that he could eat. It's only airborne. Because we're here in the Desert, there are road runners. Road Runners eat snakes, birds, reptiles, things like that. Road Runners have came into the yard. This is most likely how he's gotten it.

Even though we're almost on day 2 of fighting this, he still has 4 more days to fight this. We're still at life or death.

Many Vetrinarian's do not know about this virus. It attacks quick and an animal that comes into it, it's minutes before they take them. Such as it did with Oscar, there was only an hour time frame.

So.. again, we're keeping our fingers crossed. He is still improving. He's still very weak, but is progressing very little but at least he's fighting.

We are happy now because our doctor knows how to treat this now dead on.

So guys, spread the word about this Virus. I'm in full support as well of spreading the word.

Okay guys... Wednesday will be my last day here for about 2 weeks. But it won't be my last day. I will be working from home. I will be working with affiliates. I will be at my email. I won't be around a lot though. If you need immediate help or anything at all, you can email: bryant (at) amadvideos.com

If you need me, you can email me at: amad (at) amadvideos.com

Status update on the pup! Received a call today.
This morning they went in to check on him to change his IV's, etc. He's actually going to pull through!

He did stand up on his own. He took 2 steps. He went outside and peed but needed a bit of extra help to hold him up because he's still weak.
His eyes are open about half way. Last night they were only 1/4.
When they were changing his IV, he wanted to play. His tail is wagging more.
They did give him some A-B high protein food. Only enough for about 3 mouth fulls just to get something in his stomach. He ate all of it on his own.
He's holding his head up longer. They did clean his ears and gave him a dry bath (without wetting him with water).
He is gaining strength, not a lot though.
They had to put a cone on him because he was getting feisty. Blood work came back fine (they check it every morning and in the late afternoon.
His survival rate is now between 70-80%.

However with his success they want to keep him through next Friday. They don't want him coming home so that they can monitor him.

We're not out of the woods yet. The doctors believe in a 5-day rule. When puppies like Oscar are this sick, they believe within 5 days they can either make it and if they do, they could take a turn at any time. So they're giving him 5 days. Once 11AM comes on Wednesday they're going to know if he's made it through. I hate to put it that way, but it's the truth. Then they want to keep him 2 extra days to be certain he's going to pull through.
Monday through Thursday, I'll be going in at 8AM and again at 3:30. This way he knows we still love him, etc.

So with my time off.... The vet wanted us to bleach down our entire house twice, yard and everything. We did that yesterday and are finishing up today. Then we're going to do it again Thursday, completely redoing everything.
That's why Wednesday is my last day for about 2 weeks. This way I can really spend time with the pup, give him a ton of TLC, spoil him, everything!
Right now, ALL animals are confined. I have 3 other dogs. They're not allowed to leave the house in case they can pick up something and possibly pass it to Oscar which could make him sick again.

So that's where we're at. We're on day 2, he's making excellent progress. I KNOW he'll make it through today and the next 3 days.

My only fear is the bill!!!! Right now we're just under $2,200. Praise the lord they're working out payment plans with us. I tell ya, these doctor's are angels.

Alright, everyone have a fantastic Sunday. And if you don't mind, still keep your fingers crossed for us!

At least now you have a name and a treatment ... that alone helps reduce the worry level a fraction. I'll continue to send a ton of healing vibes your way.

HE'S COMING HOME TOMORROW!!!! HE PULLED THROUGH! 2 Days ago at this time he was practicly in a coma and borderline death! Today the doctor called... He's playing, he's eating, he's drinking water, he has 95% of his strength back, he's having a ball! His eyes aren't all of the way open yet, but are 3/4 now. MY BABY IS COMING HOME!!!!!!! He'll be home tomorrow at 3:30PM (PST)!!!! They didn't think he'd pull through so fast. But he did. So tomorrow at 3:00, I'm leaving for a while to make sure he's spoiled, play with him, have fun with him. He's been through so much in the last few days. He deserves that!

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR HOPES!
