I Wonder? Any Tips To Avoid Blog Spam Comments?

I help manage the blog for our company and lately all we seem to get are blog spam comments... We have it set that I have to moderate all comments, so they aren't going live, but still, to get a few hundred a week to have to remove is just frustrating.

We use Wordpress and I see they have an area for a list of words to flag for possible spam. While I can think of several, does anyone know of a good resource that might have a nice comprehensive list of words and phrases to target.

Also any other tips or suggestions about what to do about the spammers?

    Thanks!

I use a couple of plug-ins. These are some to look at: WP-BlackCheck, Nonce, Please!, Gab Captcha 2.

also make sure that all comments need approving first, and don't allow previous commenters to have new comments auto approved. I have found that people tend to try to do several "nice" comments and get them approved, then once they have that auto-approved setting they start spamming with their links....but they learn quickly that its a waste of time if they never see their spam being approved.

Thanks guys! I am going to work with the person who set up the blog for me and see which of the plug-in(s) you mentioned they think will help best!

And I have noticed spammers will try to fool you with "You have a very informative blog, it's exactly what I was looking for" then a link to a drug website is there. At least they made an effort to make the comment look legit, rather than the ones that just post long lists of links...
