Do search results depend on location?

Being a one-man shop, i work hard at selling my books and videos.

So I frequently Google my keywords.

For my DVDs: gay dvd or gay dvds for women
For my books: male nude photography [ebook]

For the past 4 months in the UK, I was pretty much dead in the water. If I found my works, it was on other sales channels. My VOD partners, Amazon, etc.

Today, in Dublin Ireland, I'm in the Top 5 on page 1 for each directly to my own sites!

Do search results depend on location? if you try those keywords, what results do you get for my works?

but even when I am in the same room with a colleague of mine our results vary cuz he clicks on different results than I do, visits different sites and so on

Yes, they can be completely different from one location/country/language to another, whether you are logged in to Google or not, etc etc.

How do my keywords work for you at your location?

You can easily check any of them:

Google USA: google.com/ncr
Other Googles, just use the respective country codes, like google.co.uk, google.com.au etc. That would be English speaking markets.

You can install Google or Piwik Analytics on your server to see what works in terms of sales.

Add &pws=0 to the end of the search URL to turn off personalization. You can also search for "google without personalization" to get browser add-ons so you can search that way all the time.
