I was having a nice e-mail conversation with a BIG player in the biz today, UNTIL I pointed that their TOS was copy/pasted from Amazon, and they forgot to delete the word "Amazon"...

But now the words are gone from their TOS.

If a second set of eyes finds something and tells me about it, I'm usually pretty appreciative...

Well...you did the right thing. If they have a hard time accepting that then too bad. I would certainly appreciate you pointing it out to me. Then again, I wouldn't copy someone else's TOS. But hey...that's just me.

It's not a terrible idea, Amazons ToS is likely rock solid at both state and federal levels.

I guess copying someone's TOS might not be a bad thing due to it covering all bases etc - especially Amazon's - but it's probably best to rewrite it in order to avoid Google from penalizing for duplicate content. And they most likely would. I guess it depends too if the TOS page is something you want to get crawled regularly.

This is why I personally wouldn't copy someone else's TOS.
