I was just talking to my neices about this a day ago. They were bitching about their jobs... well my neice Dani was. LOL

My very first paying job was working at the church rectory. There was a couple of us and you had to be an altar boy to get the job (please no jokes LMAO). I answered phones and gave out keys to people who had special activities going on like scouts, basket ball practice and bingo! LOL

My worst... There have been a LOT I could put here. But I'd have to say it was my non-waiter job. I got a waiter job at Rodeo Steak House. When I started the job I found out there was no waiter job and I was put in the kitchen to work - I wouldn't have minded but they made me wash dishes and mop the floor... what made it even worse was after I washed the floors (with dirt and cleaners still on my hands) the manager insisted I make lettuce bins for the salad bar... so I broke up heads of lettuce with filthy hands - the manager wouldnt let me clean my hands. I quit that night and called the board of health the next morning.

First job: Worked for a month at the University bookstore, they fired me after a month because someone said I was being rude. You try being nice to a slow question asker during rush week for books.

Worst Job: Working for Hallmark. Evil store. I hate holidays now and frankly they pay sucked. I worked there for three years and only made 5.75 an hour, and that was AFTER I got the raise for being a supervisor.

First Job: A mindless internship at the US Embassy in Cairo, Egypt. I was 16 and just needed something to do with my summer. For slightly over minimum wage, I pored through stacks upon stacks and boxes upon boxes of thousands upon thousands of printed out expenditure reports and then cross checked them with stacks upon stacks and boxes upon boxes of thousands upon thousands of other expenditure reports looking for discrepancies between the two. Literally it was like "Well, boss... File A6:893 FSC Line A Report 932D USG FedEXPEN Listing X-483D.5.32 says the DAO's office was billed and paid out $562.14 for new carpeting on June 1 of FY 1992 but... Post A File 1 Line 9.65.Y of InterO Report 03A1992.6.1 says FSC actually made a payment of $562.41 on itemized expenditure in question, #AB3902.92. Should I draw up a Form FEB 744 on the 27 cent overpayment?"

Over and over, day in day out, for 3 months. And that was my first job. Not my worst.

Worst: A dotcom start up here in LA initially funded by a Korean company. By the time I arrived to start working there the company was already on the verge of collapse. They had no money to spend on marketing or advertising or technology, after a few months our paychecks stared bouncing, I was the only person in the entire office who spoke English, and you literally had to initiate a 2 week long process fo approvals, forms, meetings and deliberations to get a typo in the copy on the website fixed, the bureaucracy was so out of control. It drove me nuts.

First Job: playing Hansel in the charlottetown Festival production of Hansel and Gretel. I wore little green leiderhosen and had a blonde paige-boy haircut.

and no, you can't see any pictures of that.

Worst Job: It's a tie. I worked in the mail room of the Christian Foster Parents Plan, opening and reading mail that people would send the children they were fostering.. to make sure they didn't say things like "If you were Christain, your country wouldn't be starving, you know" or "you're such a cute child... too bad you're going to hell for being Hindu". About one in five letters would say something like that.

The other was managing a retail video store at a suburban mega-mall. the mall was filled with gangs and guns and bored teenagers... and professional theives. That wasn't the bad part. the bad part was that the people who were running the company didn't have a clue what they were doing, and would spend most of their time wasting mine with stupid ideas that would just piss customers off. I almost quit until I found out what a great severance package they were offering, and I did the worst job I could for months umtil they fired me, giving me the whole of lasst summer off with full health benefits.

you know your in porn too long when I started to answer this question thinking it said, "first blowjob/worstblowjob"

first job: painting hotel rooms (lasted one day since I spent way too long on the trim and optimising colors) seems I was a little too gay in creating a theme and balance when all he wanted was the whole room to be done -( I was 15 at the time without an Ikea catalogue, whats a boy to do when he needs to express himself in color???)!!!

worst job: director of marketing for a chemical company. The owner tried to put his son straight out of college into my job and pressure me out. I sued for constructive dismissal and got my job back. Not liking this at all 2 months later - he produced a letter that I wasnt allowed to see that I spoke ill of him to a affiliate and was let go. I had another job waiting so I didnt push the issue.

    -------------------

In this industry?? I worked for a guy who required the employees to call him God. *(seriously) He was rude, slept with the male models (and if they didnt they were fired), make terrible comments about you to your face and jokingly in front of the office trashed you - for months he bounced checks while he drove his new lincoln navigator, and if you complained or disagreed with him - your fired.

My first job was tutoring kids in math and science. Mostly algebra and oceanography. It was fun, but sometimes it just made you want to kill them.

My worst job was right out of culinary arts school. I was working St. George Island (Small out of the way place in N. Florida where rich old people come to when they get ready to die. It was like the golden girls, but with a lot more drinking.) I was handling hiring of the staff, and teaching them how things on the menu I made where cooked when the owner comes in, starts yelling because of something. Well, you don’t yell at me like that. So I put something in the food to make people have the shit for lunch and quit that afternoon. He closed down a few weeks later.

first job: lifeguarding at a suburban city pool. it was lots of fun just hanging out, getting tan...we also competed in the michigan lifeguard competition where i spent the night getting drunk with my swim coach (i know it sounds like the beginning of a really hot porn...but nothing happened)

worst job: escort. eventually i decided that my dignity and sense of self worth was not worth any amount of money.

It's funny... i can totally see how my first money-making venture got me where I am today.

When I was 8, I started a neighborhood newspaper and sold advertising in it. It was hand-written and copied on the local supermarket's xerox machine. Neighbors advertised things they wanted to sell, garage sales, etc. Mostly just to appease me I think. I hired my little friend Steve to deliver the papers.

I guess I've always been the enterprising sort. When I was 5, I took rocks from my front yard, painted them with my water colors and sold them door to door for a quarter each. They sold like crazy. My parents thought it was cute until I came home with a pocket full of cash!!

Worst job was when i was 18 and a friend hired me to help him do some construction work...at the time, I was unfamiliar with unions, strikes and scabs... but it soon became apparent that I was a scab, crossing picket lines, getting things thrown at me, etc. But there was something about those steel-toed boots and hard hat that I just loved!

I started my first ever job when I was twelve I was a green-thumb even then, I mowed lawns and tidied gardens. No surprises here. I enjoyed it and within two years had a complete monopoly in my street and the surrounding areas and just couldn't fit it all in after school or on weekends. Hired my younger brother and ended up giving him the business which now has a grand total of two clients - don't you hate seeing all that good work go to waste!

My best job is the one that I'm in currently, I have a supportive boss, the pay is good, the hours are reasonable and the work is fun.

The worst job I've ever had was in one of the many garden centres I've worked in:

I started with the company and had fun for the first week, after three weeks I was their head landscaper, two more weeks and I was also running their accounts receivable, and eight weeks later they made the manager redundant and asked me to take on her job as well with no extra pay! The guy I worked for was lying asshole and was mortgaged up to the hilt and we always had creditors on the phone wanting to know where their money was. Needless to say I left and found a heaps better job that paid more for less work

I remember my first job like it was yesterday! And it was not:crybaby: I remember going to get my working papers. I worked at the horse stables @ the day camp I went to.

The worst job. selling frozen mr T's pizza's over the phone on behalf of whatever charity the boss picks for the month. I think 1% went out to charity.
