In These Troubled Times, Is It Still Worth Managing A Membership Site?

Adult memberships sites used to be so damn lucrative. Cam and Dating sites have flourished out of this business model. It had gone so well that people thought that adult is recession-proof. But with the onset of tube sites, rampant piracy, dwindling support from major financial institutions, government constant interference, the country's economic woes and the audience's preference for free content, it seems creating membership sites nowadays looks risky. What used to be just seems worn and obsolete.

Is it still worth the trouble making membership sites? Marketing gurus say that we only need to create more valuable content. But how more "valuable" can we make them when people apparently prefer quantity over quality? Can we really still make money with content?

And yet while all things remain doubtful, I still think the porn industry will never die. Our industry has always been innovative. We are the the first to try new things. Reinvention is our middle name. It is our adventurous spirit that will lead us to a new profitability. It's just a matter of time.

    Do you share my optimism?

Of course it's great to put out membership sites. The industry isn't dead and there's still a lot of money to be made in the industry. Our membership sales are up the past few months than they have ever been. You should do it, give it a shot

I like what you've got, BUT... I'm a 1-man shop and don't have time to install, config and manage such a site on my current host.

Do you offer monthly packages that include install and hosting? And simple config, change the names to mine??

I'd like to have a pay site, and its revenue, but I don't have enough hands nor time to also shoot content on the road. And none of the biggie pay site operators see fit to open their doors to us 1-man shooters with content.

Paysites are a lot of hard work, IMHO the only way to succeed with paysites today is to have a unique experience with amazing custom content, plus have an extremely good business sense and treat your paysite program as a business, not just a hobby.

Yes, its still worth it, just expect to work a lot harder than we all used to!

So which pay site operator is going to build me a pay site, hosted on their platform, linked off of their sites for traffic, that I only need to upload my own content to?

Sure it depends on how many videos.

Starting fee is $150 per month for license then. $50 for server plus $50 for wowza month for up to 50 videos.

If you want to go bigger than $200 for the server with wowza for up to 400 videos.

    so full turnkey:
    $250 for 50 videos
    $350 for 400 videos

    per month.
