    coolest job

OK.. so First and Worst are pretty funny... (Although I think I'm the only one who mentioned having to wear tights and leiderhosen), but what's the coolest job you ever had? I'm sure that being in porn ranks right up there for most of us... we all know how the mere mention of that in social situations creates flocks of people crowding around, but I bet we've got a bunch of people here who have had some really cool positions... er... jobs... (although I bet Don's had both)

My coolest job ever was as the Import Buyer for HMV (Which is a music retailer in Canada). I'd spend about 75% of my time on the phone with people all over the world buying records and just talking about nothing. I got free concert tickets, got to meet almost every one of my musical idols (got to hang out with most of them, too) I got to go to every movie opening and release party for any album I wanted, and on top of my salary, I got about 20 grand worth of music and DVDs a year. I had tiny little office that I painted black and hung skulls and candles and called it "The dungeon" and I'd sit in there and read magazines when I was bored. And I got to meet lots and lots of men. I miss that job.

How 'bout the rest of you?

Ya know, I must be just to young. I've only had about 6 jobs my whole life. None of them where these real cool jobs like Jason's or meeting crazy fun stars.

Now I own the company from the last job I had. Cool I think.
You'll get more with a kind word and a 2 by 4 then you'll get with just a kind word.

Well, yesterday we had Webmaster Wednesday...a regular gathering of Michigan webmasters....and it was at Brad's house this week. As I was floating in his pool smelling the Brats and KaBobs from the grill I started realizing how much I love the job I have now

While it's not glamorous, this is the coolest job I've had. I get to work with and for people that I actually enjoy and respect and finally have the self confidence to make this an advanceable career. There's more potential for financial growth in what I'm doing now than in anything I've ever done and I simply enjoy my job.

Seriously...I'm not trying to kiss up...I'm pretty blatant about when I do that

My coolest job was without a doubt my internship with the Dean campaign in Iowa. I was accepted for the internship in December of last year, and just got in my car and drove up there the next day.

I worked 16 hour days, 7 days a week, and it was AWESOME. Everyone was great, and the atmosphere was really informal for a while... until the news crews started showing up anyway.

We had a lot of fun though.

    good topic Jasun...

I am CURIOUS... why did you leave the (music) job ??

and of all the neat people that you did get to meet in that
job - do you have any *juicy* stories for us ??

and to respond to the topic - regarding my coolest job:
that would be as a Professional Dominatrix = ProDom
    (but shhhhhhh... that's a S-E-C-R-E-T )

Well.. it kind of left me. After there was some major reorganization at head office, i didn't see eye to asshole with the new directors, who didn't understand how carrying lots of hard to find imports and niche genres made us better than selling the same stuff available at K-Mart. I left, and within a few months they were begging me to go back, but although it was temping, I didn't wanna just walk backwards into an old job.

And although I got the chance to Smoke up with Joe Strummer, get drunk with Megadeth, helo geri Halliwell to the loo, hold Kerry King's guitar, party with lots of stars... almost punch out a Queer as Folk Cast member (for being such an asshole)... I never got laid.

    by a star.

that I'm at liberty to tell you about.

honestly, i am very happy with my job now. I get to work on various projects, from home, in my own time. But aside from this, being a journalist was pretty cool. I had the opportunity to meet a lot of interesting people, celebs and otherwise, and learn many things about many subjects. I love to write, and writing for a living was a dream come true... until I got bored with it.

My coolest job was at a famous Hollywood hotel. It was the worst job because I screwed up my back, got very little respect and totally run ragged working for peanuts. But I got to meet all kinds of cool celebs. Had a chance to talk candidly with some long time idols of mine. And I have dozens of stories to tell people at parties. LOL!

My favorite job was working at a restaraunt where all the waiters had to dress up as characters....I was the original Mister Rogers..I wore a sweater and tennis shoes..and was constantly making suggestive references to all the female waitresses.....It was a blast.....Thank God it was an expensive place and only catered to big spending adults or all the families with kids would have driven me nuts.
My other favorite was creating hair products and working in Marketing for Sebastian......That was fun!
