htaccess 500 errors

Can anyone tell me why this htaccess file would be generating:

RewriteEngine on

RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER}!^http://([a-z0-0-9-]+\.)*hisdomain.com*/[NC]

RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://.+\.mancheck\.com/* [NC]

RewriteRule /*http://%{HTTP_HOST}/[R,L]

error 500: Internal Server Error
The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it
from fulfilling the request."

Hmm good question.

Might want to check with your host as to why its happening could be that the host hasnt setup all .htaccess rules.

Are htaccess files case sensitive? The above actually had hisdomain in full caps. And I just wondered about that.
