Earlier this week, Google and Sprint launched the new Google Wallet, available for Android Nexus S 4G phones. The new "digital wallet" lets consumers pay for purchases with their smartphone by tapping it on a retailer's NFC (near-field communications) reader. Of course, the Wallet app can be PIN locked for extra security, requiring a code to be entered on the phone for each use.

The companies said that hundreds of thousands of retailers will accept payments via the Wallet app, including big chains like American Eagle Outfitters, Macy's, Foot Locker, and Subway. And they are predicting that 1/3rd of all shops will accept Google Wallet NFC payments by the end of next year.

As Google's rolls out the application, eligible users of the Nexus S 4G will be prompted to download it.

Does anyone know if this is also available for online transactions? And what their stand is on adult?
