Samsung beats Apple, now #1 for smartphones
Samsung officially beat Apple for the coveted title of the "world’s largest maker of smartphones", shipping around 28 million smart phones in the 3rd quarter of 2011, compared to Apple’s 17.1 million phones. Nokia remained in 3rd place. Almost all of Samsung's shipments were Android-powered.
Experts cite two reasons for this jump, first the popularity of the new Galaxy S II phone, and second the announcement of the new iPhone 4S which is delaying new sales for Apple.
In overall stats for mobile phones, Nokia topped the lot with 106.6 million handsets, followed by Samsung (87.8 million), LG (21.1 million), ZTE (19.1 million), and Apple (17.1 million). All other manufactures accounted for 142 million or 36.1% of the mobile phone shipments.

I stay fly.
That's crazy how Nokia is still in there. I guess, when you count the many people who have metro phones, it makes sense.
