Have you heard about the new censorship bill that is starting to gain popularity around the US gov't houses? Originally called the PROTECT-IP bill, but recently renamed to the E-PARASITE bill, this new proposed legislation will give the government some pretty severe and unchallengeable censorship power over the internet.

The reason being given for E-PAREASITE is to protect the entertainment industry from foreign run sites that provide links and access to download content (think Pirate Bay), but of course, its going too far to provide rights to the government while taking away consumer &/ business owner rights.

The bill gives government lawyers the power to go to court and obtain an injunction against any foreign website based on a generally single-sided presentation to a judge. Once that happens, Internet providers have 5 days to “prevent access by its subscribers located within the United States to the foreign infringing site.”
