Domain Price Increases Coming in 2012

I just got an email from GoDaddy saying that ICANN will be raising the price of .com and .net registrations in early 2012. That increase will be passed along to consumers around the beginning of the new year (exact date and amounts are not yet known).

If you have a domain portfolio that needs renewing or are looking to purchase new domains, you may want to do so before the end of this year and register for multiple years to ensure current prices.

I should have realized the minute the "discount codes" stopped appearing in my email they we're going to hike the rates! ( interpreted: effective immediately I will not be buying "privacy" for 3/4 of my several hundred sites! - LOL )

I guess noone is immune from Inflation. We'll be telling our grandkids how domains were once 9.99 and they will look in wonder.
