WAToday published an article overnight saying that "Google's Android operating system for mobile devices has had an almost sixfold increase in threats such as spyware and viruses since July, according to Juniper Networks."

The article goes on to say that most of the new malware is a direct result of apps that are on sites other than the Google Android Market. Apple doesn't seem to have the same issue, possibly because iPhone / iPad users can only get apps from their official Apple App Store.

The Android Market does have hundreds of security apps to help you protect yourself, and just like every other operating system, its recommend all Android users get some sort of protection!
