Original Skype founder Niklas Zennstrom has setup a new company called FreedomPop and has signed a deal with LightSquared to provide free broadband to everyone in America.

Yes this sounds too good to be true, but its for real. LightSquared's plan is to offer up to 40 million connections within five years. They have not commended on how they will be making this commercially viable yet.
