Three? In the trash?! That's horrible! Isn't there a Salvation Army in your area? There are always less fortunate people who could use a computer for themselves or their kids, don't waste good electronics please!

    ?? Yikes!
I have 2 17's sitting out in the back yard for at least a year now and I don't know how many spare PC parts I have lying around.

i was on a throwing bindge, when we started moving out we were like dayum so much crap what can we throw away so we don't have to lug it around...

they were really old computers i think all 3 used scsi drives, besides the salvation army wants them to have all their parts working and the cd-roms didn't

i did give away a 17" compaq monitor though so i didn't tottaly throw everything out

my boyfriend tossed 2 corner desks, office chair, entertainment center and something else, by the time we drove by the trash bins they were gone so someone must have had use for them

Good to know! I'm big on SA, they are nonprofit and help a lot of people. I didn't know that about every single part having to work though.

The thing about the corner happens here too. People drive around on "anything goes" trash day collecting stuff . I picked up two 19"'s one time, but they both had vhold problems i couldn't fix. I won't mess with it b/c when I was 16 I tried on one and got fried. I blacked out and when I came to I saw stars for like an hour and my hand was black and crunchy! Scary shit.

OMG! You're lucky you weren't KILLED. Monitors hold enough of a charge in their capacitors to land you into several life times from now! Tinkering with a monitor is NOT the same as tinkering with a computer ... and should never be attempted by the home user.

If any of you think it's ok to pop one open and try to replace a fuse ... at least remember to NEVER ground yourself when working on one... the opposite of what you do when working on a computer.

And one more precaution - please never take a monitor to the curb where a child could accidently or intentionally break the screen. Those things shatter and scatter with more force than a dropped flourescent light tube. At least box it and seal it up, or find an industrial dumpster to unload it to.

Yeah, where were you 8 years ago? it really, really sucked. For the longest time I made people open doors for me because I jumped so hard if I got a static shock.

and since then lights burn out around me ALL the time. Think its a super power or something? LOL I'm serious, I can even walk down a street with no traffic and have overhead lights go off one at a time. It comes and goes, but still very very wierd, and bothers people. It even seems to go with my mood! If i'm all worked up I can go through ten bulbs in a day! It really sucks that the overhead outside my house does it, because if I need to go outside at night for anything I can't see (flashlights definately don't work for me ).

The absolute wierdest is that when I reach out for the breaker box in my house it starts to make a loud humming noise, funny to see people's face when I do it. I realise thats hard to believe, but I have no reason to lie about something that stupid . I really probably shouldn't tell people who cant see it for themselves but oh well. Maybe it has something to do with electromagnet something or other in my blood?

When I first moved in here I was taking a shower and all the sudden a HUGE electric charge started shooting through me. I have no idea what it was but it hurt really, really bad. My muscles were all jerking and I had to crawl out . I was so upset; the last thing I want is to be scared of taking a shower! It hasn't happened again though.

You can imagine how freaked I was the other night when lightning hit my house and blew out all the bulbs/destroyed my computer.

So anyway, me and electricity aren't friendly anymore

Hey, I have a good question for you all now. Have you ever known anyone with a supernatural power? My friend Stacy has the power to gamble and win ! She is wiccan but raised Christian, and she refuses to use the power for personal gain. I didn't really believe her, but she asked me to her senior prom, and they had a casino going at the after prom. The idea was to win fake money then use it to bid on prizes at the end of the night. She went straight to roulette and put her money down on a number. She won, and did it over and over all night! They kept having to give her IOU 100k papers LOL. I've never, ever seen anything like it! All the kids and teachers were pretty freaked out and I could tell it was bothering her. I couldn't understand why she kept playing, but at the end of the night she handed it out to the poorest kids in the class. It was the wierdest but sweetest thing i've ever seen!
