Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) use in the US has officially dropped below 1%, news that prompted a "Goodbye IE6" party at Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond (see attached pic).

American use of IE6 fell to 0.9% in Dec, while worldwide stats show that browser's use was down to 7.7% in Dec 2011. This was after MS embarked on a 9-month campaign to get users to upgrade and experience the benefits of HTML5. China still lags behind with ~25% IE6 usage, followed by S.Korea and India.
