    Adwords

I imagine I'm not the only person in the world that thinks Adwords is a scam. After all, the EU has notified Google of a current investigation into antitrust matters. http://money.cnn.com/2012/05/21/tech...rust/index.htm

On one of my sites, I have a breath-taking $2/day Adwords budget, with clicks around 20cents. My daily budget is always reached in the Adwords dashboard/control panel thing.

Just yesterday, feeling my oats about my new and improved PHP coding adventures, I decided to add some 2008-era logging code to my sites - the one with the Adwords budget, and the 6 or so without.

In the past 24 hours, the site with the Adwords budget has had *1* HTTP_REFERRER as Google. But yet, I've reached my limit of clicks. Some from Yahoo, none from Bing, some from AOL, and multiple blogs and free porn search engines.

The other sites, have had a few from Google. More Bing and Yahoo, but a couple from Google.

My two concerns about spending money with Google:

    1) 50% of the traffic on the net is not human surfers, and

    2) Adwords is a scam.

Have you more full-time programmers been keeping track of your traffic, over a longer haul?

Matt @ Google, has categorically said spending money on adwords WILL make you rank higher. As google is aware of you, and you are paying them. (same as anything else in the world i suppose, money talks)

I always suspected this but have not tried adwords yet myself. I'm thinking about doing a test with one of my blogs that has very little traffic to see if it starts to show up higher in Google.

I wonder how far away we are from the day when Google starts giving search results based on the companies willing to pay the most.

    About 1-2 years ago.

Unless it is a pirate site, or a non-commercial site.

adwords is most definitely not a scam, assuming you know what you're doing

Google says I am constantly receiving my full daily budget of clicks, but in my HTTP_REFERRER log, there are not enough Google's to add up.

What has that got to do with your point??

Alot of people have started using private browsing. I know ALOT of people that will only browse in private or blackmode. - did you factor this into your results?

    I turned off AdWords today.

I do have a BING advertising account, but haven't created a campaign yet.

Last year, I bought some ads on Charmants, and felt that I got some sales. Even though they are or were a bit expensive compared to some others.

What other opportunities might be out there, on blogs even Tubes, for placed paid ads? Not too excited about Tubes that cater to bottom-feeder, free porn surfers.

I like selling my DVDs, Clips, and eBooks.

    Willing to.

Maybe we can assemble a list of ad opportunities. i know a lot of web masters like working for big PPS payouts, so a percent of a $7 DVD is too small of a fish for them to go after,

But I'm willing to do reasonable ad space.

I've got a Bing MS Advertising account, but it is much more difficult to understand than AdWords. And, once you've plodded through the training for it, then you find out there's another bunch of rules specifically for Adult advertising.
