What will your wedding song be?

It's taken a decade, but I have settled on Flaws and All by Beyonce.

The lyrics describe me perfectly especially being a trainwreck in the morning, a bitch in the afternoon, neglectful when I am working and a nag when I want attention. I always wonder why he loves me.

Alright, I am done watching YouTube videos for the day.

I set it up, was waiting for someone to take the bait. You win a single Twizzler.

Can't get hitched in this fine state of mine. Bunch of bullshit.

The only thing we can do is register as domestic partners with the county but that really only takes care of hospital visitation, pulling the plug, etc. Covers nowhere near the 1,000 rights afforded to married couples.

I think you can get full marriage coverage in New York City ... not just a couples registration or such. http://www.cityclerk.nyc.gov/html/ma..._couples.shtml

I want "Morning Has Broken" by Cat Stevens if I ever have another more formal union with Che'. We "jumped the broom" back in June 2000, but of course it isn't legal to anybody but us. (Yikes!! I have a 12 year anniversary this month ... I had better make some plans to celebrate!)

I had a near 9 year relationship in the past and I think it's highly unlikely we would have got married even if we could have done. I don't believe in marriage and, though you can't argue against gay marriage due to it being an equality issue, I think it's going to bring a lot of unhappiness.

It's going to be relentlessly promoted as some kind of ideal (just look at the title of this thread which assumes we're going to have a wedding), but many men will be unable to find a longterm partner to marry simply because of the way it often is when men get together.

I believe we will end up with a small conservative married elite at the core of the gay community, which will cause misery and exclusion for the many who don't fit in. This is already happening in Britain, with these kind of people teaming up with the police and local authorities in attacking cruising areas and so on. Which would have been unthinkable 15 years ago. Supposedly we don't need these anymore now "we" have gay villages and civil partnerships (porn could be the next target).

Our conservatives aren't as extreme as yours in the States and are backing gay marriage here. You have to ask why. It's going to be like going back to the 1950's except the desperate marriages that people are pressured into by family, friends and social pressure will be same-sex instead of opposite sex.

I'd pick "Love Who You Love" by Rascall Flats for my wedding song, although I believe I am "terminally single".

I think we are both afraid of marriage, we just want the right.

Seen too many long term relationships take a turn after marriage. Sometimes I think marriage adds imaginary pressure to people even though our lives our already so intertwined.

Saw a Goldie Hawn interview where she says she likes not being married after all of this time because it means each day they choose to be together but have no legal bonds. Either can wake up any day and leave and each day they stay it means they want to. I totally get that.

Quoting on mobile is a pain because of all of the scrolling in a small box. My post above would have quoted dirtyratstudios.

And Bec, a dozen years is a long time. Congrats!

Today we are three months shy of five years. 9/6/07 was the best day of my life.

Very true. About 15 years ago I shot the photographs for a male/female couple who had lived next door at one time. They had been together for years and had a ten-year-old son. But after getting the proofs they never got in touch about getting large prints. When I saw the guy and mentioned it he said they had split up!

We're giving up unique freedoms and our communities much too easily in a rush for equality (supposedly).
