It's really cruddy when you're waiting and waiting to hear back about a job, and you finally call them back and they tell you they hired someone else.

That happened to me last month. I was hoping to get a state field organizer position for the 2004 election with a nifty political action committee. I was really bummed when I finally contacted them weeks after my interview and they said, "Woops, sorry we forgot to contact you. We hired someone else. Good luck in future endeavors."
