Google is going to start doing something about piracy in SERPs?

This looks promising. Hopefully they do not skip over the adult industry when doing this:

Google just announced that, starting next week, its search algorithm will start taking a new signal into account: the number of valid copyright removal notices it receives for a given site. According to Google, "this ranking change should help users find legitimate, quality sources of content more easily." The idea here is obviously to punish pirate sites by pushing links to them down on Google's search results pages and to appease copyright holders who often claim that Google doesn't do enough to remove links to copyrighted material.

Every time you send a DMCA notice make sure you copy it to Google as well!

Okay, now we need a decent group or collective of sponsors and affiliates to target the tubes, blogs and sharers and report everything to Google.

I don't think the industry has been proactive enough on this.

Sponsors have missed opportunities to fight back for years - as I mentioned on another forum adult studios could have spent just a few months flooding the file sharing sites, forums and tubes with fake content, designed to discredit them. If a pirate has spent half an hour downloading a file expecting the latest Corbin video and they find a message telling them they're stealing instead they will eventually give up on those sharing sites.

This is another opportunity we all have to take action. Once we have the ability to report piracy directly to Google we should make our voices heard and HARASS THEM into doing something about it!

Since we use Porn Guardian I just emailed Dominic to see if they'll be CCing Google on all DMCA notices. I imagine most of the content removal services will start doing this.
