Without a doubt SuicideGirls.com! I love the design, the layout, the content, the mix of text and visual content, everything about this site ROCKS!

I think it puts the tired Title; model/fake bio,model/fake bio,model/fakebio; Enter type of tour to shame!

An adult site where you actually KNOW what you are getting before you sign up?! Gee what a novel idea!

I'm sure you can tell i'm not crazy about 99% of gay paysites. In my opinion the front page should reflect the member area, unless the site has something to hide; like that it sucks!

You know what -- I think you're being unrealistic to think that most one person companies could produce that site. I know I couldn't begin to handle every faction of the front end, content and backend support and people (production as well as models) that site requires. I have no idea what their originating history is, but I'm guessing an initial niche that one person had a fondness for evolved into the site that is up there now.

I agree, it's a beautiful example of what can be done with a niche, original content and the creation of a working and supported community system via the chats, webcams, forums, online albums and so on.... but one that I personally think would evolve over time as money was generated and more staffing became feasible.

I also think you're being a bit harsh on slamming tours that sites have up ... overall I'd say that most webmasters try very hard to show a surfer exactly what they're paying for in their tours. Fake names and bios ... yea, if you have to pay for content and not have the luxury of your own stable of models and studios, you adapt. Most porn models don't allow usage of their real names to begin with! And many sets don't even show a "porn name" to bring in to ID them with.

I'm more slamming sponsors that have a "portfolio" of half-assed sites. I'd sign up for a sponsor with ONE site like this over any of those. And the time, effort, money they put into making those ten+ sites COULD produce one excellent site like this one.

When I slam that kind of tour, I'm saying it dosn't give the surfer any decent idea of what the members area looks like, how easy it is to navigate, how/when/why it updates, etc. The members area of suicidegirls is more or less the same as the front page, only with the payed for content. What you see is what you get.

The fake names are fine, i'm more dissing on the "reality" sites where they take guys who are nasty and drugged out looking, throw them someplace outside, and put "straight guys talked into gay sex" and stuff like this, when you've seen them screwing guys on 20 sites already.

I'm not trying to hate on people who obviously put a LOT of hard work and time into what they create, it just seems to me that a lot of sites are made with the webmasters seeing dollar signs instead of the site they are creating. Maybe surfers don't care? Half the sponsors i've checked out seem like they just rushed to create as many sites in as many niches as possible without really thinking it out and creating a quality site with repeat value. With the prices they charge, I feel like that is a rip-off.

And don't kid yourself Bec, you have more than enough talent, creativity, and ability to pull off a site like that! It's easier than it looks with any free portal script! I know from experience that a site like it can flourish with the loving care of a one person team. I admit some of the site's features are out of most's abilities, like the high profile interviews, but overall something similar is very, very possible!

Tyler's room shocks me. Tyler is the sweetest man, and I'm guessing that all that text in his preview would get him large ammounts of traffic. Because his site converts well for him. It goes to show me that you do not need all this flashy stuff with all these nasty pictures in your preview to convert.

I also use to love how badpuppy changed their tour each week.

You know ive been thinking about this on and off for a day or two and in all honesty i dont really have a favorite layout.

Most paysites tours are the same layout seen again and again on a multitude of other sites and, without meaning to cause offence to any of the great designers we have in our community, a lot of the tour designs are lacking in originality on many of these sites.

The thing is, for the most part a designer can only do so much and all to often it is left up to them completely to design the tours for paysites without knowing what the program owners or affiliate programs webmasters want to see.

I do think we are in a cycle though when it comes to the quality of paysite tour pages, 5 years ago magazine style tours were dismissed because they wouldnt work, 2 years ago we saw mag style tours become all the rage now, reality style layouts are more popular, i think if a company could successfully merge the aspects of what works in all 4 types of tour into one that would be a winner for sure

Ya know, I do this with steve, because he knows what will sell. Although I do look over things with him a few times during the design process and change little things.

It's all in picking a designer that knows what he's doing and how you work together. I agree that most of the time, the program owners just tell the designers to make it, and not really work hands on with the designer.
