PPV Networks-Anyone ever hear from them?

I signed a contract with these guys a few years back and sent in a dozen titles for them to put on their network. I see three titles were added and nothing more.

I never heard from them again after repeated emails to Damien, customer service and to the guy I originally signed the contract with. I also asked that the titles be removed from their network, again no response and of course never got paid a dime for any commissions we may have earned.

I hate doing this in public but I have tried so many times to make contact and just get ignored.

    Anyone else have similar issues?

Yes. A spindle of DVDs in my case - from Sept 2007!

You're lucky you go NO response. I got a variety of foul, trash talk responses.

The point is: in this era of being mindful of and wary of piracy, I want my spindle of DVDs back, too.

If a VOD company solicits my business, and solicits my DVDs, then either put up or ship them back.

The DVD discs are not only my physical property, but the hour-long video content on each disc is my Intellectual Property.

He is pretty visible and active on the other board. I'm not welcome in that clique of bareback promoting power mongers, but none of that bullyism makes the situation of holding and refusing to return my DVDs right.

    Five years later.

Wjhy has this company not been blacklisted then? Affiliate programs that are accused of non payment are blacklisted, why not VOD companies like PPV?

    Thanks, Bec.

M- the answer probably has to do with numbers.

First, you brought it up here. Which is good. It takes more than one - as in 'me'. I recall it being raised here in the past, but never got any traction. Probably raised by Sebastian Sloane - or one of his aliases - and me. And it was a couple of months after the summer 2007 LA Webmaster dinner, that ended as a bit of a drunken brawl, which then transitioned into Winter 2008 and the fracturing that happened to this board.

Often discussions here on this board, and there, become brawls between fans and cliques. or stifled by non-blind admins and moderators, or by the aristocracy of the older members, especially over there.

Second, there aren't a lot of studios and content producers who submit to the VOD portals, here, or there. So a Program Sponsor not paying Affiliates affects more members, and is a lot easier to fly the (red) flag about.

I just don't like my content roaming around in the wild, like modern-day tumbleweed, where it can be put up on Tube sites for all to watch for free.

I'm a one-man shop, and have myself to support - with no sugar Daddy like a lot of web masters and hobby studios.

I'm a one man show also and appreciate these kinds of discussions. If someone is making money from my content it needs to stop as soon as I find out about it. Now if we can only tackle the torrents and that like!

Shut those down and we'd all be back to actually selling paid memberships again.

Bec - You're being a bit too hasty. I know Damian VERY well - see him in person once or twice a week and talk to him pretty much every day on Skype. There is no reason to blacklist him. I vouch for him and I could give you a long list of people who are well known in the industry who'd vouch for him. Since GWW is owned by Stunner - start with Lloyd - he knows Damian pretty well. I seriously doubt Stunner would support Damian being targeted on a blacklist on a site they own.

Just so you know - Damian's program is one of the most profitable programs out there. Thing is, he's never dealt with small players very well - he only really pays attention to people who make money for him. I know I had some accounting issues before he had sites that converted well for me. That doesn't make him a bad guy. All it means is that he's a small shop and he focuses on the things that matter.

Nick - I think you're the person I've heard Damian talk about (the story sounds familiar) - your DVDs went in a landfill many years ago. You're not getting them back - get over it.

"You're not getting them back - get over it."

No, I WON'T, Raw. Destruction of my physical and intellectual property is simply NOT acceptable behavior. There's no excuse. No amount of bullying will ever create an excuse for it.

Thanks for the bullying. It only affirms my observation about the aristocracy of "networking" forums.

All the more reason for putting him and it on the warning list - as a warning for studios he solicits, from TWO studios - not counting Sebastian Sloane...

Are you more important, than the two studios reporting trouble as studios????

The right thing to do would have been to return my DVDs, not the string of trash talk e-mails. $10 for Priority Mail...

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy being an affiliate. This isn't about being affiliates, its about being studios.

So because he's your friend, there is a need to stifle the truth??

I sold my first VHS tapes thru an ad in Playgirl in around 1993-94.

I think I was at $15 or $20, plus whatever Priority Mail shipping was back then - after all, we got the mailing box for free!

The ad cost $100! Made a good rate of return, from a hungry market for $20 VHS. 2-hour VHS tape, with self shot solos by my furry self and some mail and early e-mail friends!

I only made about a dozen VHS tapes - now I'm upwards of 500 DVD titles - shot and made in 5 countries. Can't take early 1990s era cameras and VHS recorders on airplanes like we can modern HD camcorders and laptops and DVD burners!

I need to do some Googling of my brands again, to see who's selling them on Ebay and pirate sites. Because I sell mostly non-anal titles, most pirate sites don't steal them!

    Hooray for our side.

It's all well and good he's doing well with most studios. If he isn't interested in my product then don't solicit a contract from me, pretty simple stuff. Get me to ship the DVD's and then get blanked because I asked about them? Not even good personal behavior never mind business relations.

Then keep my stuff on his site and still not respond to my request to take them down?

This is all from a good guy?

Thankfully there are not that many good guys in my life!

It's not bullying to tell you what you ask for is impossible because the DVDs went in the garbage. It's just a statement of fact. There's also nothing illegal or immoral about what he did. But it does speak volumes about you that something like that is still on your radar. Get over it and move on.

Possibly. But it's not just me. The list of people who like Damian is a rather impressive list.

And thus goes the Aristocracy of the webmaster forums.

It isn't about what's right or wrong, its about who worships whom and what, who belongs to which mob, who has the longest list of "friends", what is on the radar for one person and what is not for another.

Tell me that PornGuardian (et.al.) doesn't have its (clients') Intellectual Property constantly on its radar!

Your directness to "me" perpetuates the 2008-present aristocratic slash and burn campaign over barebacking that some of us are on the opposite side of as you. We don't live in a unilateral world. I've read the periodic discussions regarding webmaster earnings goals. As a one-man studio and webmaster, I'm at or above earnings with my content.

The consumer market is large enough, that I would rather serve a different market than you, rather than compete with you for the same consumer dollars. I don't see that as being fundamentally wrong in the US supply and demand economic system models. I find no comparison necessary.

It is absolutely unethical of Damian to send me trash talk e-mails telling me he can't return the DVDs, that they are filed somewhere else, but can tell YOU that they got destroyed. And to destroy rather than to return for $10. If my content didn't fit his model, he should never have colicited me to send the DVDs to that specific address.

Up to this point, the discussion - started by the new member from Canada - was about PPV's non-communcation.

You have elevated it to another level.

That's now two types of complaints and warnings, from two separate members.

    Thanks.
