    Introduction and lots of questions

    Hello everyone,

My name is Andy and I run a porn affiliate site called Gay-Emo-Gay.com. I have been doing this since last May. I want to expand my website to gain more traffic and of course more sales over time. I am thinking about doing this in the following ways with subdomains to supplement the main site:

    Making a legal tube site
    Making a dating site
    Making a webcam site
    Making a TGP site

The problem is that I don't really know where to begin in regards to any of these right now. Since I am asking a lot for my first post I will concentrate on a tube site right now. So here are my specific questions:

    1. I have been reading about services like Pimproll and others like White Label services that host tube sites for you. Are these any good? I have been looking for information in regards to this question but I can't seem to find anything.

    2. Is bandwidth really the killer that everyone says it is? Or should I just make my own tube site and not worry about it?

    3. How do I go about making a tube site for as cheap as possible? Is something like Nubiles Tubescript the way to go about it?

    4. How do I get clips that fit my genre of gay porn? I specialize on Gay-Emo-Gay in Emo twinks. I have found plenty of affiliates that have Emo guys so that part has not been a problem but do I have to ask permission of my sponsors to show sponsor trailer clip videos on a tubesite? Obviously the idea is that I show an affiliate provided video clip and have a link to the affiliate. I want this completely legit.

    5. Is the market over-saturated with tube sites and are they worth the time and effort?

    6. Is there anything I forgot to ask?

I know this is a lot to ask from a newbie to the forum and I apologize about that. I appreciate any and all help and advice you guys can throw my way.

    Sincerely,

    Andy C.

    Hey Andy.
I had a look at your blog and to me it appears you're off to a good start. A lot of questions there, but I think you'll learn the answers to most of them along the way as you go. Creating a tube is quite the under-taking if you're want your own with your own script. I wouldn't advise using a hosted tube for a long-term plan. As a temporary solution, it's fine however.

My advice would be to move one phase at a time and learn as you go along. Good luck!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

I personally can not recommend the Pimproll tubes -- I have had about a dozen of them active for about a year and only JUST got a check for $27.00 (and they do get a significant amount of traffic) I basically have them on Pimproll to keep the domains I'm using active til I get around to setting up my own tube scripts.

The Nubiles script is fine to setup your tube. Just be sure you keep the two links they require in order to use the script for something other than the Nubiles site videos.

You don't have to host your tube clips. Most of the bigger sponsors have a way for you to generate the format you'd need to add their tube videos to your tube site, and THEY host the video, so there isn't a bandwidth cost issue for you! Look around in the program's member area to get the codes, and/or ask the program owner for some help to get started. Most of them have good reps who will be happy to walk you through the process!

As for Emo type sites, look into www.emoprofits.com

It can be hard to get good traffic to dating and cam sites, but perhaps tofu from www.datinggold.com can stop in and give you an assist and answer your questions.

Got more questions? Keep 'em coming!

    Bec,

Thanks for filling me in on Pimproll. I was just looking at WPX tube and I might go with that. Also thanks for letting me know about the bigger sponsors being able to host the videos for me. I will ask the personnel at my sponsors about it. And Emo Profits is how I got started by the way but regardless thanks for that as well. I really appreciate the warm welcome and the guidance. I definitely will keep the questions coming.

Hey Andy! Everyone in this thread has great advice and I can attest to Bec's experience, so you are in good company! If you are interested in cams/White Labels, I can help you with that. I am from webcamclub and we are actually looking to do some productive White Labels, namely, with LBGT friendly themes! On the tube issue: I use a tube script that is no longer supported, but the choices are endless! I was using the tube script: http://www.wpxtube.com/ and doing okay. Now, I am looking for a newer, more robust script. My friend fris is a wordpress advocate. I'm sure he has something close to what you are looking for. His ICQ is: 704-299

Even if you believe the market you are in is saturated, don't let that discourage you from jumping in, with both feet! I ran a super-successful TGP for many years, when everyone had a TGP. Remember, the internet is MUCH bigger than the sum of all people on the earth. If you are willing to put in that time and effort you speak of, you'll see return. Never mind what everyone else is doing. DO YOU!

If you'd like to discuss anything or just need another ally in this business, please take down my information in my sig
    and contact me!

    Hi Tofu,

Sorry I did not reply right away. I was busy over the last day. Thank you very much for the encouragement and help. I am indeed interested in Cams so I will contact you privately about that. I will also contact your wordpress friend if needed. Have a good weekend.

    Andy.

I really wouldn't waste your time with any kind of dating / profile site. Such a huge waste of traffic. Lots of kickers, nobody signing up, and with so many free profile sites out there, selling a membership is a hard slog. I've sent oodles of traffic to dating sites and never got anything out of any of them.

If by webcam you mean a chat with models for free and pay them to take their clothes off, you really have to have the right kind of traffic for that to make any money. Basically lonely men with lots of money, the 20 to 30 years old hanging out at your local bar can't afford $3.00 a minute to talk to someone, they can usually get it for free. Rent boy sites make a killing on the Flirt 4 Free model, pretty much everyone else is waiting and hoping to get a whale. Again, I've sent these types of sites mountains of traffic with no return.

I would say that your best bet for building traffic is a tube. My second would be some kind of a gallery set-up, TGP or otherwise.

And like a previous poster wisely said: take it one thing at a time. If you take on too much at once you'll end up doing a lot of running around and get nothing done.
