Who has some ideas how I can promote a gay escort site? The German traffic and customers are very good, but the English version needs more clicks esp from European customers. Any ideas to get it going?

German men are under-represented in Porn. All the models seem to be Czech and Hungarian.

The need for money isn't that urgent in Germany (except the druggies) and they're all afraid friends and family would find them on the net. Or they're asking for ridiculous amounts of money.

Agreed. The rates for doing porn destined for the web are not much more than for doing some escort work, yet the porn may be out there in public forever. So unless a guy has committed to a career in porn and enjoys the publicity it's a strong deterrent. This is a major problem these days and I probably don't help myself by spelling out the situation to potential models. But I like them to be informed.

I guess the biggest problem in Western European countries is to find straight guys who need to make some quick and easy cash to pay bills and stuff and are not naturally in the escort/model business. It's till much easier to find those guys in Eastern Europe.

Also I'm wondering about how's the situation in those Southern Europe macho countries with economical troubles and a high unemployment rate amoung young men. You also almost never see models from the Scandinavian countries, even though there's certainly no shortage of promising candidates for the model biz. But I guess at least Sweden has some very strict laws when it comes to sex work, so it might be difficult to find models at all.

I was hoping to spend Jan-Feb-March in Southern France and Spain, but I could not find affordable lodging, and still do shoots with new talent.

The other side of factory porn studios and mega sites loading up on cheap labor, and buying up independent sites for 10% to roll up into their "networks", is that we independent studios have less cash to hire more unique, and less exposed, talent from the west.

Last year, there was a studio here from Spain and one from France, but contact with them has fizzled out. Our Russian friend has gone silent since coming on strong a year or more ago.

I didn't mean to suggest that all potential models are necessarily going to escort as an alternative. But wanting to earn some money has always been one motivation for doing porn (another was being an exhibitionist). Many EU countries have a fairly generous welfare system, particularly the Scandinavian ones.

My impression is that younger gay men are more conservative these days too, at least here in the UK. Hardly surprising with marriage being pushed as the most "ideal" thing. Many seem to be worried about being seen as a "slut". Whereas 30 years ago it was "vive la difference", f*** the family and about exploring sexuality.

A small number of powerful people are getting very rich from this "content wants to be free" world and have managed to persuade governments not to enforce copyright laws properly. At the end of this road will be an ocean of stuff that is below average and "just good enough".

Also what amazes me is the way a blind eye seems to be turned to all kinds of sites in terms of 2257 laws (Tumblr, Facebook). Restrictions which have placed a huge burden on law-abiding adult businesses. So we have the politicians whinging about the effects of porn, while they themselves helped to destroy the more responsible adult companies.

I'm not sure what the future is. The figures don't add up for all sorts of photo and video work now. Though I think there will always be a niche market for good exclusive content that is delivered well.

The Tubes have also made it tough on hiring models.

Models answer an ad to be on a pay site, and the next thing they know, they're on 50 free Tube sites, blasted all over the world, for all their friends and family to see for free.

Now, they are not so anxious to earn any amount of money, to be blasted all over the world.
