The 'Porn Industry' So Many Business Models..

I was just sat here chatting to a friend on AIM and we got talking about just how many ways their are to make money from the 'porn industry' as a whole.

In about five minutes we came up with this list of businesses all relating to porn both on and offline..

Webmaster
Hosting Company
Traffic Broker
Content Provider
Affiliate Program
Model
Photographer
Videographer
Designer
Programmer
Adult Store Owner
Porn Movie Production
Adult Distribution
Magazine Publisher

Then we got talking about how much money we thought the porn industry makes in a year and, whilst we couldnt find any solid figures we concluded that it must generate enough income to be in one of the top 3 most profitable industrys world wide.

Anyway i had no real reason for starting this thread other than the sheer awe of how working in an industry such as porn online makes you forget so often that there is a whole other sector of offline porn that we forget about.

Quite amazing actually when all said and done.

Nice list.

Yeah, try finding solid figures for anything in this industry online. It's tough. I've searched & searched... However, as the industry "legitimizes" a little more, as we grow and evolve, people ARE a lot more open with their figures, etc. There are estimates - guesstimates I like to call them - but I don't know if we'll ever REALLY know how much is being made or HAS been made in the online adult industry over the years - especially during the Gold Rush years.

Would love to know...

But you're right - there are many, many ways to skin a cat in this biz. Lots of choices.
