Tumblr blocking all adult content related videos...

I received this email over the weekend. It seems tumblr is blocking all adult videos. This could be a good thing. Thoughts?

I thought that as well. I still see videos in my feed. But Am no longer reblogging them. I prefer pictures on tumblr anyway. But I wonder what effect this will have once they really start cracking down on videos. I have received two of these emails.

Tumblr no longer allows you to UPLOAD porn videos - they don't want to pay the bandwidth bills for free porn. However, you can embed all the porn videos you want.

The other thing you're referring to that happened earlier this year was it appeared they were making it impossible for Tumblr blogs with "more than occasional porn" to be indexed by Google. But then they retreated from that saying it was all a mistake/misunderstanding.

I have the same trouble with Tumblr, using there video posting option I cannot get most affiliate sites to embed - either using the "embed video" code provided or the link to the MP4file. I have found a loophole though

Create a text message and give it a title, in the comments box click the HTML switch, copy and paste your embed code from your affiliate site, click the HTML switch again to see the result.

Affiliate links on Tumblr are against the TOS. You risk having all your blogs terminated if they figure out what you're doing. Why spend so much time building something up only to have it taken away?

With Tumblr the key is to link to your sites and then have your sites link to the paysites.

I push it with a video player that has a link to the sponsor, but that's another, much longer conversation.

Someone gets it! Thank you! This is one reason (of several) that I have not had a single blog terminated by tumblr.

Tumblr is indeed picky about what you can feature. I've been using the method rawTOP laid out for a while and haven't received any warnings either. Tumblr are great about porn and if you follow their TOS they will give you lots of SEO love.

And yes, it is a trip when you Google 'naked men'. Tumblr is quite predominant. Which totally contradicts the myth that they don't allow the indexing of adult content. Thankfully

I still don't get it? As I don't have my own site, I post pics in Tumblr with links in the comments section that take a viewer straight to the site the pics came from the links obviously include my tracking code so that if someone joins from that action I get credited.

Am I missing something here?

I'd be careful with that.

I don't suggest you discussing it in the open in the event someone goes to 'T' about it. Read their Terms of Service.
