Free Site Structure - Server Related Stuff

Just wondered how everone laid out the structure of their sites on your server?

Do you create specific sub directories for each site and within those directorys break them down again into image folders, html folders and the likes or do you create a single sub directory and upload everything to that?

What are the benefits to you building sites how you do right now and also, do you think that having all of a sites content in a single sub directory could be of benefit at all?

    Regards,

    Lee

Basically because I am a total klutz I have each section of my site in sub directories so I know where to upload which update and to keep track of it. Seperate directories for different types of images etc. now if i could only remember the domain I'd get my updates done faster:specs:

We actually have the php pages in one directory and images in another. All images pull from the one main image folders. Member’s area is almost the same, but images are pulled from the main graphics folder. Our content is pulled from 3 different areas, depending on what it is. However, the content we lease out and have in the members area is all pulled from the same 3 places. The hardest part was to block all the direct accesses to the content plug ins, but still allow the membership site to get access to them. (Thank God for php, and htaccess files!)

For sites that use all the same content on all their sites like I know a lot of you do, I would say put all content in a global dir, and just let each site call from it with some type of CMS set up.
