What is the minimum number of videos needed on a site for you to promote it? Do you think the fewer videos, the less chance of the site converting?

I cannot speak on any minimums. I'm sure some folk will chime in, here. But, fewer videos
are likely to not retain customers. Also, regular updates are paramount!
The Tube marketers have wrecked the profitability of the adult video biz by giving away too much action, in their misguided effort to sell more conversions.
Before Tubes, a new video on the VOD platforms earned 200%-300% of cost of production, in the first couple of weeks. Since Tubes, that number has shrunk dramatically.
There was a poster here several years ago, who noted he would "whore out" a new video on AEBN. I'm not sure he's even around, anymore. A new bench-mark of VOD above average "success" is closer to $150 in 2-3 weeks.
Tubes and web masters who feel they must give away 3-minutes of oral/anal, especially anal, action in order to make a buck for themselves, really owe us content producers for the free views they give away, and for the thousands, and tens-of-thousands of dollars individual studios and content producers have lost each year since, to free views.
But of course, those thousands, and tens-of-thousands of dollars don't actually exist, because nothing times noting is still nothing.
Studios that allow Tubes and web masters to give away "action" minutes, have reaped what they have sown in terms of decreased revenues, and devolutionary cycle of lower production standards due to lower revenues and ROI.
Viewers with marginal discretionary spending power, do not need to spend a $.10 these days, as they can watch enough to get off, for free.
Viewers with some discretionary funds, can buy $25, and fast-forward through a clip, cherry-picking and popping, what they want, in less than $1 per video title.
Consumers with larger discretionary entertainment budgets, can buy VOD packages more suited to their 50-inch flat screens, and mail order DVDs, although blockbuster production DVDs' list prices have shrunk like a porn star's dick after running out of the Big V. The percentage of customers with 50-inch flat screens is not the target demographic of content producers wanting to earn back their costs.
Tubes, web masters and VOD portals that feel the only niche with earning power is bareback, and thus only serve up bareback, have shut out and shut down fans of every other niche. Thanks for sending those consumers to my soft-core sites, for those consumers who could find my soft-core sites in the face of Google algorithms and disinterest from said traffic generating web masters.
In the early days of the Internet, up to the advent of the Tubes (a year or two post-XTube), what sold videos was "tease". If you wanted to sell a video, you needed a tease clip that *maybe* showed some dick in the last few frame of the clip. Now, a "tease" includes a cum shot, and with that said and done, the viewer has no real reason to spend money, and doesn't.
Studio-run member sites face the dilemma of having enough videos to warrant the list price membership options, especially of videos that can be downloaded. Frugal members want more than their fair market value of downloadables, for the minimum number of days needed to download said videos.
If they can download all in a weekend, they will. Members deserve a fairly large catalog of videos to choose from, but more effort should be put on the number of downloads in a 3-day, one-week, and one-month period.
Sites with streaming, are better protected from poaching, because the viewer is viewing, and pays for the time period to view, not to download.
Sites with streaming can and should produce a large catalog of titles, and not just promote the newest dick of the day. The larger the catalog, with no downloading, should equate to more memberships. Except from poachers who don't spend money anyway, and should not be catered to.

I think 20+
A couple of years ago, a poster here defended their arrangement to give away free view action clips to Tubes, in that sickening language: "we must agree to disagree".
They are now gone.

I agree regular updates are important for sites. Almost as important as unique models or content.
I'm launching a new site with 7 or 8 videos & 10 in the can. The models are from two of my other sites where the subscriber has usually never seen the model talk, interact with, or touch, another person. On the new site the model interacts, blows, gets blown, etc.
This is a tough question to answer and I've asked myself the same thing several times. After much contemplating, because of the day and age we live and that consumers of porn - in all sexual orientations and niches - have come to expect the moon, the stars and the entire universe for next to nothing, 30 videos would be the minimum in my opinion. However, the site most probably should also offer video feeds and in some cases, access to more sites. When you look at the competition and what they're offering for $20-$30 per month, that about sums it up.
Best of luck with your endeavors. Sincerely.
Good idea Squirt. All the best with it
May I ask what niche the new site will be for? Didn't you have a night vision site a few years back? It was something that was relatively unexplored as a gay niche at the time.
I remember that night vision site. It was really cool. Whatever happened to it Squirt?
Yes you're right Bec, I remember you helped me find the feeder domain sleepersex.com too thanks for that I let that domain go a while ago.
I hope you understand why I'm not going to state exactly what the new niche site is yet. I've learned that on the boards there are 100 times more listeners then posters. That nightvision site had many copycats fairly quickly. I will say the new niche is something all porn sites I've seen have at least one video based on. The domain has the niche name in it with men at the end. I've registered the women version as well as the boys & girls versions.
Wait I'm getting ahead of myself, that's the next site I'm releasing sorry. The site I was referring to in this thread is just the typical straight guy niche Bec. It's not live yet but if you PM me I'll give you the url for a sneak peek as long as you promise not to share!
Ah, of course you should keep it confidential 'til its release ... wasn't thinking about the idea being used before you went live by another company or individual.
