I Wonder? What will the future bring?

What direction is the adult biz heading?

There is so much good free porn available through TGPs, MGPs and free sites etc..., surfers don't need to spend money to get off. After all this is a business, we are to provided good product,at a good price with good service.

When the product (porn) is being offered at the best price (free) who cares about the service. So where is this industry heading?

I’ve heard this question for a lot of years. And the same answer is true… there will always be someone somewhere who wants what you’re selling.

The way to work around of the free porn issues is to build sites that are different. Offering exclusive content. Offering something different – something/content that isn’t seen everywhere.

There are enough people in the world and online that there will always be someone wanting to join a site, buy a sex toy and watch your exclusive video.

If the conversion of our own sites are any indication… the markets may be thinner in recent years than in the past gluts of the late 90’s, but the market is still very much there. Instead of having one free site that make $5K you need 20 sites that will make that (not real numbers here). Pay site owners work with exclusive content more than mass bags of pics, now.

Does free porn hurt conversions? Yes. But will it work against us every time? No. It just requires the serious business people in this industry to be creative, work the markets they have chosen and to stay one step ahead of the trends.

In the past I’ve heard people say that they believed a lot of what’s out there would simply disappear over time. And to an extent that has happened, but for everyone one free porn Webmaster that has disappeared three take their place. So it’s something that isn’t going to go away.

Also, as I mentioned in Michael’s thread about the industry, we’re seeing groups of people/companies coming together to work with each other more and more - putting the collective thinking cap on and working around a lot of the things we’re up against, like too much free porn. I see this trend growing more and more - working with a select group of people and selling within the group’s traffic streams. Is this the future? I think it’s a big part of it.

But when it comes to the amount of free porn out there, my usual thought isn’t where it is going to take us but how do we get around it. Sex will always sell. And it’s what you have to offer, and how you present it, that is going to make the difference.

My two cents for the fountain

I agree to a large part with Gary Allen on how he put things, but I also think we still need the free porn as a lure, hook or whatever you want to call it.

I also think that as the industry progresses, more out of the box thinking will continue to work its way thru.

Those who stay the course, who fight on will eventually win out because even with all the new webmasters showing up most leave as they find out this is one of the, if not the, hardest businesses around.

I see good times ahead, but it won't be easy, least imho.

I think one of the biggest things in future of adult sites will be subscription based sites. Instead of content "updating", it will come in "issues" with each week or month bringing something entirely fresh and new, with everything else being accessed through "back issues."

Plus prices of the highest quality ones will drop signifigantly. As the novelty of internet porn wears off more and more, people will just see it as exactly that; a porn magazine in a digital form to allow for a multimedia experience. They won't expect to pay more than double what they would pay for a physical magazine, for a years subscription.

Of course this model also involves mixing a healthy dose of text content with your visual media.

    Good question.

I don't think TGPs and free porn are necessarily doing a disservice. People who are new to the Net don't necessarily know where to find free porn, so that's where a good ranking in Google is important.

Generally speaking though, I think the market will continue to demand more and more quality. There are too many nice looking sites out there now.

Movies and video are hot right now and amateur stuff is always hot. So, I imagine as bandwidth continues to come down in price, and as more and more people embrace high-speed, we'll see an increase of your average Joe performing online and keeping a library of his stuff on a site.

The personal site is still pretty much untapped. I've only been TGPing for a week and I'm already sick and tired of seeing the same stuff day in and day out. So I imagine the surfers aren't too impressed either. I think in the future, the big attention grabbers will be the totally, new, under-exposed stuff: the lonely amateur who doesn't have an army of webmasters flogging his stuff everywhere.

I've somewhat gone through this myself. Randy Blue is selling well for me, but it's everywhere now. I'll keep promoting it, but to give my sites an edge, I'm trying out some new, rarely seen sponsors.

    Cheers

I actually think we are going to see the industry come full circle within the next 2-3 years.

Hopefully once all this Visa stuff has finished up its going to have a good negative effect on the industry overall.
