We need a good streaming server to host our videos

We would like to find out about a wowza or a similar steam server that will play high bit encoded videos with no delay and will also accommodate mobile devices. Can anyone recommend anyone?

We simply rent our own servers at carohost then installed wowza on them, they are totally xxx friendly and support has been great, been with them years. Prices seen comparable and bandwith is excellent

To be honest our subscribers have been dropping out like flies so as a result of this decline we are looking into every possible aspect of trying to not lose more...I am sure you know what i am getting at We were actually thinking of getting rid of the "membership model" and trying something new and less "by the month" and more "view now" without a recurring expense. All that should be done with a class A stream platform.

Hey Toby have you checked to see if a "member" is uploading your stuff to pirate sites that are ahead of you in SEO for terms relating to your models or domains? This could be why you're losing member.

You could start by Googling your site name with the word free in front of it as well as your model names with the word free in from of them

not really we have our own dedicated machine with unlimited bandwidth and support for around $600 a month

depends on how much traffic you're pushing


A well specked VPS in a good data center could suffice if you aren't pushing more than 10TB of data per month. A dedicated server is another option. The fanciest would be a CDN, the best way to distribute high definition video closer to where customers are located - that's around 2-5 cents per GB on top of your vps/dedicated server storage costs

jIgG thanks you for taking the time, are you saying a VPS with Lighttpd or engineX installed is all you need? I have seen some examples and was not impressed.
