I wish accommodating affiliates was more manageable

The most successful affiliates we have are legal tubes. We have a promo clip edited and uploaded, within minutes of it going live sales come in. We have our own section on their sites where surfers can see more of our content all in one area.

What's difficult to manage is sending out affiliate emails that never get opened by the majority of affiliates. In those emails we used to take the time to create 8 or so big promo images with small watermarks and a link to download the promo video.

My last communication with a non tube, non review site affiliate consisted of 10 or so emails backs and forth, getting to know each other, then learning that the affiliate thought cumshots were the best way to promote sites. I really liked this affiliates animated gif abilities and actually considered his request with the caveat that first he send traffic & make sales trying our way, proving that we could make money together. I haven't heard back from him since.

With everything, and all the expense, that goes behind creating our content, and making it digitally deliverable, I don't have a problem giving 50% of the profit to an affiliate.

Are there any non tube, non review site, affiliates left that can make sales off of 8 images and a promo video?

My sites don't really match your niche, but if the niches matched better, I could absolutely sell on a non-tube site. At the end of January I analyzed my sales and 2/3rd of my income was coming off my blog (despite neglecting it). The remainder of the income was evenly split between my forum site and my tube site. Yet, the forum site had 40% more traffic than the blog, and the tube site double the traffic. So blog traffic still sells better than tube traffic. One substantial difference between a blog post and tube video is that blog posts are much more "evergreen". I can make sales on a blog post years after posting it. Doubt that happens with tubes too much unless they get onto the "most viewed" or "most highly rated" lists.

8 pics is a little thin though - it takes 12-20 to do a blog post since bloggers need a variety they can edit down in order to tell a story.

One issue though is that there are far fewer affiliate bloggers than there used to be. The field is thinning out as the market becomes lower-margin.

You have come a loooong way over the years and really pinned down marketing your niche, in every aspect, well done!

How much do you think the affiliate blogger field has thinned out? I lightly put Blogging, FB, IG & Tumblr in the same affiliate space.

We could do 12-20 images for affiliates we just haven't noticed one yet that makes it worth the time. We get more sales from a particular affiliate using just a few banners. We are open to partnering up and making more money with anyone so we can bankroll the release of our blindfoldmen site. We all do still make money, making more is a good goal.

My challenge is broadening my audience without losing my hardcore fans…

Go to Phoenix Forum. The number of gay affiliates who go is appallingly small. Why? Because most affiliates can't afford to go because they're not making enough money. It's sorta the reason why there's a lot less activity on the boards than there used to be 5 years ago.

To succeed these days you need to do more than blogging. You really need to build a community and a brand. My focus now is on programming things that others can't get off the shelf - to give myself a competitive advantage. Everything from a stab at a very different hookup site, to social media automation.

Do Tai from QueerMeNow and Bjorn from GayDemon promote your site? They're ones that come to mind that might do well with your stuff. There's also Str8UpGayPorn - the guy is a nasty cunt, and I think he's more "celebrity" focused, but he's got a following.

That's exactly the kind of tightrope I've been walking the last few months with the release of the new site and loyal fans of the other seeing them in a different aspect then before, but not losing their previously unique appeal. Oddly I "lost" about 100 members from one site to the new site. Go figure! I'm sure they'll migrate back and forth but was hoping for dual subscriptions!

Dominic was saying this on the phone to me today and I'm seriously considering. It's just about an hours flight from here in the OC. I'm gonna take a big jump and say publicly that I'm honestly terrified of big crowds and not knowing anyone or where to go I'm great 1 on 1 & in small groups. I guess I've been doing this 15 years now and it's about time I meet some people face to face and see a real life smile back at me

Yes I can see how building a community has a sticky quality that would convert. Your programming abilities give you an amazing advantage as well, but would be nothing without the vision you have to compliment them. Thanks for your suggestions regarding promotion I know Bjorn does not sure about QueerMeNow & Str8UpGayPorn, I'll have my affiliate rep reach out to them.

That is actually quite do-able at the Phoenix Forum. You don't have to attend something if you don't want to, and a few pre-forum emails will do wonders in setting up contacts and getting a spot on somebody's dance card to talk about your program.
