    Too Galdarnedmany Problems (TGP)

    Hey guys,

We've been having a number of questions on the board recently about TGPs. A few of us seem to be getting into them. So I thought maybe we could have a big old bitchfest and learning session. So here are some things I'd love to see discussed.

Do you use TGPs? If not, why?

Do you think by submitting to TGPs we (webmasters and sponsors) are shooting ourselves in the head? We're giving away so much free porn who needs to buy it?

Are we all like a bunch of bugs around the porch light? Mesmerized by the glow of the light (the promise of traffic), but really only getting burned by the Chinese hotlinkers, the scammers, the TGP owners not sending us traffic but gladly accepting ours, the freeloaders taking our pictures in the slam-bam-thanks manoeuvre, and the one sale we might get for every gazillion visitors?

I heard someone say here a while ago that the only people making money off TGP are the TGP owners. Do you agree?

Is TGPing worth all of the effort? Would you be better off putting your time into AEN galleries?

    Are TGPs here to stay?

If you run a TGP, are they worth the work? (Or at least the work I perceive is involved to protect yourself from all of the scammers.)

Are TGPs just over-saturating free sponsor content and making it harder to sell those sponsors in other ways?

    Cheers,
    Dzinerbear

i submit to tgps every day. i don't get rich, but i average around $2500 - $3000 a month income from posting and it takes a total of 3 hours a day to make galleries and post them. when i was more motivated, i did around $5000 but i've had so many things going on...

i believe that like tv or radio, we can make money will giving away free content. consider this: a guy who wants to see full length muscle man movies is still going to buy rather than surf a zillion tgps to see mostly 15 pic galleries and no movies.

the problem is that there is a certain mindset to making galleries and that kind of marketing is foreign to people who work other kinds of marketing. most people i work with are overwhelmed (hi, bec!) when i really critique their gallery with an eye to explaining this kind of marketing.

as far as owning tgps, i gave it up. it was a lot of work, actually. and didn't make anywhere approaching what my avs sites or my galleries or the paysites make. it can be fun, though :-)

there is a very specific way to make money off tgp's - how can there not be with that amount of traffic? Funny thing is that most who know how to make money will not give up their secrets cuz it really is easy money!

    cheers,
    Luke

I only submit to TGPs to promote free sites. Bring them to me. Let them become my bookmarker and visit me for awhile. Bring em back to my site enough and I'm convinced I can get them to eventually buy.

Hahaa ... no shit!! But you got me where I understood a hell of a lot more about it. You're a great teacher, and when I start making galleries again, you can bet I'll be a knockin to see what you'll rip apart in them! LOL

Part of the problem was I was trying to take in sooo much information early on, and only understood less than an 1/8 of the whole picture and how it all went together ... this biz can be very overwhelming for a newbie, and I applaud any one who sticks with this.

And Luke is right -- there is a lot of information out there, but it isn't always ALLLLLL of the info. Many say there aren't any secrets to this biz but I disagree. The basics are shown, but how to work it isn't ... and I can understand now that yea, what works for you may not work for me ... and that those that are succeeding went thru the school of trial of error and passed hard knocks 101 to get the $$ they have now.

Those that stick around and learn to read between the lines and really listen to those willing to teach will be the ones that survive the process.

It also helps to ask the right questions in just the right way, of just the right person ... :honest:

Thanks for posting the link, basschick. I appreciate it.

Anyone else got anything else to say about this thread. Surely more of you out there have experience with TGPs.

Are TGPs here to stay? Are they a passing fad? Are they worth the effort? Speak up.

I would have thought this one would have taken off like wildfire. I'm still along way from Bec's 55 posts. :bomb:

    Cheers
