    thumbs.db in XP?

    Anyone know if there is actually any reason to leave this turned on or not?

    As far as i can tell it serves no 'real' purpose.

    if you view your files in the "thumbnail view" in file manager (explorer) this file speeds up the display, it gets created automatically the first time you view thumbs in a directory.

    I actually like using the thumbnail view. It makes it easier if I have a directory full of images and I'm trying to find something specific.
