can this be the end of trials?

Just got an announcement email from lightspeed saying:
    NEW PRICING STRUCTURE!
    We've replaced our 3-day $6.95 (and 7 day $9.95) trials with 14-day $19.95 and $24.95 "mini-memberships" effective May 21.

Can this be the start of the end to trials? I really hope it is, imho trials suck, but at the same time it is almost impossible to sell a full membership to a site that also offers trials!

    cheers,
    Luke

I hope so, too. I've encouraged affiliate sponsors of mine to cut it out with the trials and many of them are indeed doing so. And it's meant more money for both of us!

For 2 of my clients in the last couple of weeks I've convinced them to drop trial memberships and instead go with those 14.95 10day/2week memberships.

And likewise sales have still been decent (dipped a bit, but the money made off greater sale amounts more than makes up for it and so revenue is up).

In all honesty, though, I'll continue to promote sponsors who give hefty flat rate payouts on trial memberships. But 50% partnership on a trial? No thanks.

    HOORAY !!

We have NEVER trialled our premium boy sites. We don't have to.

And, pun intended, no trials will certainly seperate the men from the boys when it comes to quality of content and rebills.

    Looking forward to it.

    It just could be!

I can say as a webmaster, when I have a line of crap traffic come in, I don't mind sending it off to a program that will pay per signup for it.

But as a program owner, I hate trials. About two years before we launched Stud Money I had a few non-impressive - 'I need to know what I'm talking about' - sites out there. I offered a 15 day memberships at $14.95. It worked and actually did better than the 3 day trail I started with.

Come to think of it, I lived off of those $15 memberships.

    :yeah:

I agree trials have been the one thing that we as webmasters have expected our sponsors to offer but, i do hope this is going to be at least the start in a decline of trial memberships.

These freeloading fuckers need to be TAUGHT that porn is supposed to be paid for.

    Regards,

    Lee
