If You Were A TV Producer And You Wanted To Make A Show About..

The gay online porn industry what would you put in it?

Also what type of show would you make? A documentary? Reality show? Something else?

I think a docu-reality show would be great. You could follow a few webmasters around, get to see how they build sites, go to shoots, choose models etc etc.

Could be a real in-depth no holes barred show about the turmoil and the peaks of working in the gay online porn industry.

So if you had to outline a tv show about the gay industry what would you do and include in it?

I still say that a reality show set here in my office would rock. Its like a mental institution here.

This is my favorite job ever, but if we just set a bunch of cameras going, we'd rock it out. A REALY reality show.. not like these silly "pseudo-reality" shows like "Survivor" or "Joe Millionaire" or "Average Joe" or "The Bachelor" where they get a whole bunch of people who are desperate to do anything to be famous, and then put them through all sorts of humiliation.. there's enough crazy stuff that happens in our industry without making people eat Buffalo testicles.

I'm with Jasun on this. Just show what a regular day at the office would be like for some of your bigger companies. But also follow the guys home and show people that we're just average joes. I think the adult industry is totally demonized sometimes and people think we're all perverts. That's why Ashcroft and his cronies have so much power. People don't realize that we are just people who work at a job. Or that we are often professional business people and that there is actaully a lot of business being done and not all sitting around looking at naked people.

Well, having spent many years in television doing just that, I've always thought that the industry would be perfect for such a piece. Personally, I've always wanted to shoot a one-month doc of a company as they build up to Internext Vegas, clearly the biggest show of the year. I'm trying to swing PB into doing it . . . but so far, no sale!

How about talking to Pride Nation? They might be up for something like that. Or Logo.

it's funny how completely facinated with our industry people are, and they only half believe that it's not the drunken orgy they picture.

but being someone who came from a purchasing position in a large retail chian and a bunch of other brain sucking jobs, I know that this industry is a lot more fun than anything else I've even been involved with.

Interesting concept, but I'd do it not from the corporate angle but the new webmaster getting started, following him/her as they struggle with coming up with a plan, getting hosting in place, design, the scams and non scams, the help available & not... following them as they build their own adult empire so to speak..not just from the content side but the family side.. how lovers work together to build something about their own special world...

not sure if it'd be high drama but could be... could also be a good way to show that it's ordinary folk just trying to make a buck and not a bunch of fiends out to corrupt the minds of kids and such.

See, that's a great idea! Except I have a full time job and the only way to pitch it and keep it would be to have PB on board.

I sooo hear you, Jasun! How many time's do I have to add the "It's not Boogie Nights - really!!," after telling them what I do. That's why everything we touch turns to gold - and that's why a doc/series/whatever would work. I'm sure it is like "Boogie Nights" for many - maybe even some of you! But here at PB, I work for a dot com, plain and simple.

And it's nice to see you, too, Jasun! I don't make the rounds as often as I should! Thankfully my Board Watch brings me back.

It would have to be broader, but you've got it, GSM! You can't focus on any one thing, though. You'd have to include both the little guy and the established giant, as well as someone in between. It would be a bit of work, but it's a story that would be worth telling!!

I hate reality shows! People are so stupied to think that there are really 9 people living on an island eating roots and berries.

Come on now, what about the camra crew. You really think they are going to live on an island for however long it is eating nuts and dirt? Hell no, they have some hotel there somewhere serving up some steak and eggs!

So, if it where my show, I would do it doc style. Makes it more real and I would bet would make the company not look so dorky like they do on reality tv.

A reality show set at CE cash or a huge company like that would be awesome. then throw a gay guy in the mix with str8 people. LIke the Sopranos with a gay guy in the mix
