ok, so the kid died from choking on popcorn... extremely sad.... but... my question is... why the fuck did these people take a 3 year old to see Alien vs Predator ?

Lee's right. We lic people to drive a car, but any one with a slit and a pole can have as many kids as they want.

But how would you control who has a baby? Will you wait for them to have the baby then take it away if they don't have a license. Good idea but would be to hard to control.

So are people driving without a lic, but we have to take a stand somewhere.

My little brother came from a mother that had 7 kids by her 26th birthday. All 7 where taken from her because she did not take care of them. (One of the children was raped by someone her mother where dating.)

If we had some type system to lic people having kids, maybe things like that and the kid choking ok popcorn would happen less.

Perhaps not a license in that strictest of senses, but certainly something.

Personally I'd like to see more parenting skills made mandatory in schools... least with some knowledge these types of incidents could be reduced.

Problem with a license is just look at how long & hard it is for gays to get a marraige license... can u just see how some would use a license for children to deny further rights to those they discriminate against?

For me the answer lies totally in education. make the schools become day care centres and senior centres, have the two interact with the students and you'll see several things happen, least in my opinon.. being:

1. less teenage pregnancy. let the girls and boys change a few dirty diapers and they'll keep the legs closed & zippers up.

2. less kids left alone or with incompetent persons

3. sense of belonging for seniors
4. less economic burden on struggling families

there is more, but that to me would make far more sense than having a license...

having parenting and empathy classes in schools would probably help a LOT!!! also holding parents responsible for things would help. as it is, almost anything your kids get into makes the other guy responsible. to me, that's sending a message that parents aren't responsible for their children - and that's not a good message at all.
