    Nonadult Ad Programs

    I run a nonadult site, and use Google Adsense ads on it which generate decent revenue. As you may know, if Google doesn't have any relevant ads to display a PSA is shown instead.

    I'm wondering if any of you know of any decent nonadult ad programs that I can use within Adsense to replace the PSAs? We've been using Amazon.com's affilate program for those, but we're really looking for something else (hopefully PPC).

    I've got decent demographic information for our visitors too, if that makes any difference.

    Yes

    Definately make use of the default campaigns you can set up in Google Adwords. What ad format size are you running? The long rectangles?

    Well if you are getting clicks on your current ads, then logically you can conclude that your readers will click on your defaults as well.

    Definately find something other then just a general amazon banner. That will probably be very ineffective. What affiliate programs to use? That is the million dollar question.

    What is your site? The possibilities are endless. You can also create an ad to cross promote another one of your sites, or online stores.

    Yeah, we actually have some ads featuring individual items on amazon that relate to our site. I'm just looking to stop with amazon completely and use another program.

    Amazon has a great program, and it does very well for me.

    It's great to diversify though with other programs. If you sell things repeatedly though your site, consider building a "store within a store" which would better sell the stuff.

    But to answer your original question - absolutely. There are numerous good good programs out there.

    You don't have to display the PSA's if you don't want to.

    Here's the info: https://www.google.com/adsense/faq#basics10
    https://www.google.com/adsense/faq#basics11

    For an actual example of how to do this here's some sample code from one of my sites:

    Code:
    google_ad_client = "pub-6955258227711929";
    google_alternate_ad_url = "http://www.pencildude.net/banners/marketingtips.html";
    google_ad_width = 120;
    google_ad_height = 600;
    google_ad_format = "120x600_as";
    google_ad_channel ="9500724977";
    google_color_border = "336699";
    google_color_bg = "FFFFFF";
    google_color_link = "0000FF";
    google_color_url = "008000";
    google_color_text = "000000";
    (Had to strip out the js as it was rendering the actual banner -- still cant figure out how to post code here...)

    Ooops! I think I misunderstood your question -- looks like you may know how to do this already... You want to know specifically about affiliate programs.

    In that case -- head over to www.cj.com tons of choices for all sorts of sites.

    Yep, I know how to change the PSAs. Thanks for suggesting cj.com, I'll check them out.

    cj.com is pretty good. They've got a wide selection of advertisers who have various payment types. Some advertisers there offer bonuses and incentives -- especially if you've got the traffic and/or sales.

    The linking code is leaner and less complicated than places such as Linkshare.

    I think most of the advertisers there work on the basis that your money all gets pooled into one check. So if you're working with 3 or more advertisers you don't have to wait until you get to the magical payout threshold of x amount of dollars for every single advertiser. At least that's the way it works with the ones I'm using.

    Actually after a year of experimenting with what to promote as ad defaults, I have determined that the best thing is some kind of "free stuff" promotion.

    As a concrete suggestion - I have personally done well with the catalogs.com free catalogs program. They pay you per each lead you send them. And I get 1, 2 or 3+ a day actually. They have catalogs for food, apparel, wedding things - for me the wedding catalogs seem to be the most popular. You can customize all that of course.

    Look at my site's webmaster program page, and click through the Free Catalogs link on the right, if you like it.

    Thanks in advance for any tier 2 promotion!
