    IBill down for a day

Any and all affiliate links I have through IBill have been down for a day because IBills servers themselves have been down.

So the linking codes can not redirect people to my sponsor sites that use IBill.

Not to mention some of my own sites that process with IBill.

    Where's the backup system here?

A single down day can cost people a lot of fuckin' money.

they sent out an email saying there wouldnt be a problem with joins because of backup systems in other states, but thats obviously bullshit.

yeah that is fucking bullshit because people can't even get to the site the link goes to.
So unless someone clicks on a linking code, realizes it's not redirecting because of IBill's servers being down, and then takes it upon themselves to type in the URL they would have been directed to themselves and go to the site and join, with a cookie hopefully installed on their computer, then we're working on 2 days with shit.
And when your IBill affiliates account for hundreds of dollars a day that's a big chunk of change.
I mean when a regular run of the mill site is down for a couple days, big whoop. Even if my most productive sponsor is down for a couple of days, I'm pissed but c'est la vie. And if my most profitable membership site is down for a couple of days I'm scrambling that whole time sans sleep to get it back up and I got everyone in my company on conference call bitchin' and moanin' til it is back up.
But when an entire processor's system is down and all of their hundreds if not thousands of sites they process for can't process affiliate clickthrus? That's bullshit right there.

I mean I understand there's some force majeure at work here and so in an event like this you really want to give the benefit of the doubt and be understanding.

But a multimillion dollar processor not having their redirect system backed up when they know they're in hurricane country? Meh.

    Me no likey.

this is what my surfers get when they click on an IBill affiliate link:

iBill is shuttered up and last night when we drove by it looked dark, although i think their power was on inside, unless it was reflection from the car lights. I suspect their internet lines whent down too. Transformers here were blowing off like crazy all night saturday and all day Sunday and into today, it was almost like fireworks

Well, that's terrible. But, like Brian said they're in a location that regularly is exposed to the possiblity of outages due to weather. Even if that wasn't the case, there are any number of reasons a system could be down.

Commercial computer systems are not new, they've been around for more than 30 years. One thing we learned a long time ago, have a contingency plan. To not have one is too arrogant. And, likely to cost you the loss of customers, when a situation like this occurs.

ibill sales were actually fine yesterday. it appears the only sales not generated were affiliate sales. in otherwords, typein sales did fine. i guess maybe the affiliate link codes run thru a set of servers that were down, whereas actual joins do not...

    weird.

yeah that was exactly the problem. the affiliate redirects didn't work because those servers were down and not backed up.

seems things are back online today, though.

2 days with no affiliate sales, though.
