SEs don't take link lists into consideration

Here's something I noticed. Say I make an AVS or a free site. I submit it to major link lists and put their banners on the first page of my site. I also put textual links to those link list sites just below the banners.

As far as I can see, Google will take into consideration only if Menonthenet (and sometimes the sextracker counter) link to my site, and will index only the first page. Btw. I always provide textual links to other pages, so this is not the reason for Google to stop indexing at the first page.

It seems as if listings on all other link lists sites don't matter at all for Google. Hunkhunter, Sindbadbookbarks, Manpics2000, Justusboys, Altagaylinks, Hunkmen, Gaydemon... all very good link list sites with good quality traffic, but Google discards them altogether as far as linking to one's site is concerned.

As a result of this, I can't make Google index beyond the first page, and thus can't utilize text on them for gaining traffic.

    Has anyone noticed the same?

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

It will most likely be because those other sites you mention have a cgi script to redirct to your site in place instead of standard HTML links

Not really, Lee. Most of the link list sites I mentioned don't use scripts, only plain HTML links.

Take a look at this site of mine:

    www.free-porn-masters.com/sites/bighorny/

From today's referees it turns out it is listed here:

    http://www.manpics2000.com/models01.htm
    http://www.hunkhunter.com/freesites33.html
    http://www.justusboys.com/directory/Hunks/more7.html

    etc.

The most likely reason Google doesn't consider any of them to be pointing to my site is this: The page from which a link list site links to my site changes constantly. For instance, this morning hunkhunter had my site on http://www.hunkhunter.com/freesites34.html while now it has changed to http://www.hunkhunter.com/freesites33.html , and tomorrow it'll probably take some third URL.

I think it would be a good idea if link list sites had one "static" list of sites in order to improve webmasters' SE rank and indexing. Hey, that way they would actually improve their SE rank as well! It would be a win win situation methinks Of course, they might put the same site in different sections (e.g. "new", "jocks" etc.) just as they are doing now, but some kind of "archive" list that doesn't change with time, or at least doesn't change too often would be a nice thing..

I know for a fact that I've seen my site submissions to Manpics2000 in Google. That is the actual Manpics page with my listing on it.

Will all due respect Ben, even if Google were to have indexed your site or links pointing to it, I wouldn't imagine you'd get very high in the rankings. You scarcely have any text on your page. There's nothing for a search engine to index so it can "understand" what your page is all about.

You don't even have any META tags (keywords or description) on your page, although they're pretty useless where search engine rankings are concerned, but SEs still use them to "understand" what the page is all about.

If you want to get anywhere with a search engine, I strongly suggest you think about writing at least 200 words of good quality text for your page. Not this bullshit stuff that some script pumps out that is packed with keywords and bogus text. I mean write a couple of paragraphs about how hot the guys are on this site.

And you might also want to consider using text links on your page that link to all of your other free sites. Not just one phrase "more hot sites here" but list that actual names of the sites and link those phrases to the pages.

    Good luck

Yeah you are quite right about that. However, this particular site is indexed by Google, even the next page is indexed.

Perhaps other SEs, but Google has very little 'respect' for META tags. For example, one other site: www.free-porn-masters.com/sites/str8jocks1/ has them on the first page, but they didn't help at all. In fact, Google didn't go further than the first page. (I know that the words appearing in META tags should be incorporated on that and following pages which hasn't been done well in this case.)

You are right, the first page should have much more description. I thought Google would pick up descriptions from the gallery pages but it obviously doesn't work that way. The second suggestion is also interesting, haven't thought about that really. But when I have more than 10 sites, it would be hard to list them all on each site... maybe only the most interesing ones.

With all that said, I still think that constant changing of URL from which link list sites point to the particulat site does affect SE ranking in a negative way.

    Thank you for suggestions

    A couple of thoughts here...

I checked one of my 8/2004 free sites with an unusual name http://www.fistercam.com/gay/twink/betiu/index.html (brown eyed twink underwear) in Google first 100, and Google found the site on 3 out of 3 top lists and 3 out of 7 link lists. I can imagine keeping up on the spidering of a busy link list would be difficult.

Google does read alt tags on pictures, so that is one place to add relevant text unobtrusively.
