How much effort for Search Engine Optimization?

I've just got some free time so I'm doing my SEO work (boring and tedious) I know it will pay off in the end. So far I've spent 3 days solid this week and still haven't submitted.

How much time do you spend a week on SEO submission and how long did you spend getting ready for your first SEO submission?

    Hi there Squirt

Oh thank you --- let's get back on track talkin about the biz!

I have invested *tons* of time on SEO. If you ask me, I cannot underemphasize it's importance. All of my sites live or die based on their Google placement.

I suggest that everyone learn everything possible about how it works, and follow it. Get ready for lots of trial and error. And I don't find it boring at all. Out of curiousity, what is boring and tedious to you?

    Just wunderin

    Steve

The boring and tedious part to me is researching the best keywords to use. Ones that aren't too high.. yet not too low on the rankings.

Then.. going step by step renaming my pages, img tags, title, keywords etc. Waiting months for results is boring he he

I agree that SEO is important.. and after 5 years of having adult sites online.. I'm now going to focus my attention to SEO like a lazer. About a year ago, on a whim, I spent a bit of time on the front page of my site and optimized for " Straight Frat " I'm still third in the rankings on those search engines.. but of course only get a few hits a day on that search term.

What are the best keywords? Dare I ask LOL

SEO is great for a site and a must. The part that is a pain in the ass is when they decide that they need to change their rules. What gets you a great listing this week can get you blacklisted the next.
You'll get more with a kind word and a 2 by 4 then you'll get with just a kind word.

I spend about 1-1.5 hours on SEO when I put up a gallery. This entails: keyword research; writing the copy; changing the title, keyword, description, and alt tags; creating the text links to other similar galleries; adding the new gallery to all of the appropriate "doorway" pages (although they're not typical, illegal doorway pages we're used to seeing on porn sites).

SEO really slows down my gallery production, but in the end, it's worth it. One and a half years later, I'm still holding number one spots for certain keywords.

I think most of the porn industry doesn't bother with legitimate, organic SEO because it is time consuming. I think the outlook is: why SEO when I can flood the Net with 50 galleries in the same time it'd take me to SEO a gallery properly?

I think it's worth doing and worth doing right. If you're looking for the tricks, you'll just pay for it in the end.

    Cheers

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

You know SEO'ing any page for me takes all of 30 seconds at the most, the key to GOOD SEO is to do it as you are building the age, in fact, one of the first things i do before touching the actual 'html' coding itself is to place in the Metas and Title of the page.

Once the metas etc are in the place the rest of the pages text follows that.
