Identity Theft/False Site Registrations - Jail Time

Saw this article today Jail Time

Looks like they're really cracking down on identity theft, and on those using false names to register websites.

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

Whilst i would agree that their reasonings behind putting this bill through the house is a good one i can instantly see issues arising out of it.

    For example...

Joe Blow webmaster registers a domain name to his business, that business closes down, his whois information remains unchanged.

Jenny Blow registers a domain name to her home address. She moves home and several months later realizes she still has incorrect infor in the whois DB.

A lot of clarifications are going to be needed with this law before any arrests can be made and again, it is only going to potentially deter individuals in the US from doing it $0.02

    Regards,

    Lee
