I need advice on shooting gay content

I want to start shooting some amateur content but I dont have a studio, how do you go about finding a studio? And how do I get the word out to guys that Im looking to film them?

I have the cash to rent a studio and hire models, I just want advice on how to go about doing this to hopefully save me some mistakes.

Also how do you handle testing? Do recent tdo the tests have to be? Do the models pay for it? I'd make them use rubbers anyways but I dont know how people handle this.
Honestly I'd rather just have guys gerking off but I think thats boring to a lot of people and not worth it. So hardcore it best.

I live in Boston so there are about a million hot college guys here I could film.
    any advice appreciates, thanks

    Hello Marc,

Welcome to the industry. You could probably shoot out of a private residence to start off with rather than renting an expensive studio. You can work wonders in a nice sized living room with a little creativity. Just make sure you have some decent lighting equipment.

Second, some very important advice, be very upfront with your models. Let them know what you will be doing with these photos. The last thing you want to do is to shoot a model who thinks he is only going to be on one small website and then later finds out he's all over the net. If you plan on brokering through a provider, or reselling the content yourself, make sure the models knows that it is in your plans.

I agree that you should start by shooting at home. Besides the cost, expect that 50% of your "confirmed" appointments will not show up.

Always get your paperwork done BEFORE you shoot. I sent a guy home a few weeks ago because he wanted to "negoitiate" the terms of the release form. If he doesn't agree to the terms as-is, you've wasted your time and he'll still want to get paid.

If you advertise for models and include a phone number, be prepared for tweekers calling in the middle of the night for 3 months after the ad stops. Use email only and don't call back unless they send a picture.

The best way to get models is walk right up to him and ask if he wants to model. It's tough, but you're more likely to get the type you're looking for.

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

Okay im going to disagree about shooting at home.

What happens if a model or a models partner decides they dont want you to use their images any more?

They have already signed a model release which ties them into a legal contract however, when the realize this, they now know where YOU live.

Shoot in a hotel if anywhere initially

NO model should ever know where you live.

    Regards,

    Lee

Some things to consider when shooting from home:

    1) local ordinances usually prohibit adult money making activities taking place in a private residence or a public hotel.

    2) The models will know where you live so if one gets a wild hair up their ass, be prepared. ( luckily this has never happened to me, but something I think about )

    3) Some people will be very put off meeting you at your home for an interview as there are pervs that put out ads just to get laid. I suggest renting an office for a few hours, a lot of places do it in Boston I'm sure and the cost is usually $20 an hour. Then in the interview explain you'll be shooting an amateur video at someones home to give it an amateur feel.

The other advice in this thread is great. Follow it and you'll do well.

Thanks for the tips all. I would never shoot at home. Im too paranoid that a shady model would know where I live, know I have cameras, computers, and cash inside and try to steal from me, or break in when im not home.
I would definetely do it in a studio.

I'm sorry guys, I should have been more specific. I said you should shoot out of a private residence. I didn't mean your own private residence. There are a lot of places around here that you can rent for photo shoots or filming. I don't know if it's any cheaper or more expensive than renting a whole studio, but you never know. It didn't occur to me that you probably don't have such luxury if you're not in a place like Los Angeles, heh heh. I keep forgetting how different things are here.

I agree with what Don said totally. Be really frank with these guys. I've had a couple of model contact me asking me why their picture is on my site. I had one guy even ask me to stop calling him a bottom. Someone saw him on my website and went to the bar where the model worked as a bartender and teased him about being a big bottom.

Well hello, if you point you butt to the camera and shove two fingers up your hole. I'm going to call you a bottom.

The point is that it's a hassle for a webmaster to get an e-mail like this; then the content provider has a hassle, and so on. It's better these models know up front that they can and will appear anywhere and everywhere and they could be called everything from Big Dicked Stud to Cum Sucking Fuck Boy.

    Good luck
