Tpg's Alexa ranking

I went through the list of TGP sites at Gay Empire and only selected their top rated sites (the sites labeled "clean"). I then took that list and checked their ranking in Alexa. (As you know, the lower the number in Alexa, the more popular the site.)

I was surprised that so many of these "good" tgp sites ranked so poorly in Alexa. Here's my questions:

-Is Alexa a viable gage of popularity?
-If my site is way more popular than the tgp site, am I wasting my time submitting to them?

Here are the list of "good" tgp's (as per Gay Empire) and their Alexa rank. Any thoughts?

I have never given any currency to Alexa at all. All that is telling you what sites people with the Alexa toolbar are visiting, which is a poor sampling method.

I don't know if this would really apply much to the TGP world, but I just hack around Google to see what is prominent. If it is prominent there, then I'm sure people are visiting it, and it's worth a look.

Agreed.

Alexa rankings, at best are somewhat flaky.

I know for a fact we have sites listed that receive triple the levels of traffic that Alexa report and also on the flip side, we have sites listed that have up to 50% less traffic than Alexa reports.

The ONLY way to judge whether a TGP that you are submitting to is right for you is by how many sales it makes you
