Falcon's Affiliate Program News (iBill fallout)

Have any Falcon BuckBuddies affiliates received email about their new affiliate program? As in, something with our new linking codes, etc?

I got an email telling us changes were on their way, but that's all. The iBill CMI tells be my last transaction was 10/15, and I know I should have had activity since then.

    Thanks,

    Steve

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

I got one a week or so ago telling me to change the links then a couple of days later another saying not to change them

Do a search of the community for 'buck' you should find the post

    Regards,

    Lee

I'm really disappointed with the way they handled the transition.

It looks like Falcon had such a problem with Ibill that they're not taking any new signups, and we can probably kiss our recurring members goodby.

Falcon's new Rev Share program is run by Danni's Hard Drive, of all people.

I relied on having rev share links that took me directly to specific pages or specific titles in the store. When I changed the code, it now only directs you to the homepage! I wrote to DHD and they replied "I've forwarded your message to Engineering, so I hope that they have a
solution for you soon." Sounds like they haven't even figured out how to do that yet!

Well none of that is good news. Last time I looked I think I had 12 or 15 iBill rebills going on with BuckBuddies. grrrrrrr. I'm motivated to go back and closely read my terms of agreement with BuckBuddies......

This is yet another example of what I've discovered as a really unsophistocated approach to affiliate marketing in the adult industry.

You know - Falcon is a good example of someone I only promote at a bare minimum. I never linked directly to the inside movie pages of their site. Why? Way way to many leaks!

Actually in the Summer, a marketing guy at Falcon named Gonzalo told me that at the end of the Summer, they would be "rolling out" a new program that included us getting commissions on memberships referred, as well as mailorder store sales and their Video On Demand.

A great idea.... but I guess only a chimera.

Relax, I checked my Ibill stats today and a rebill did go through on 10/25. Now if Ibill could only start sending out checks again....

Gonzalo quit a month or two ago. I don't know who his replacement is.

    >>This is yet another example of what I've discovered as a really unsophistocated approach to affiliate marketing in the adult industry.

Let me guess, a mainstreamer turned pornographer?! LOL Mainstreamers are always amazed at things that we just accept. That's why so many mainstream style companies are taking over from adult companies in our own industry.

Steve, 90% of the people in this industry started out as unprofessional, unsophisticated and incapable of running a legitimate business in the real world ... that's why we are pornographers.

Find the 10% who treat this as a business & only work with them ...

& before anyone gets their panties in a knot and gets all offended, the bads & the goods often crossover. I've found with everything - people, industries, products etc - the worst feature is often also the best feature.

    • The porn industry is unprofessional ... but you can go to a convention in a tshirt & work in your undies.

    • Porn sites are full of errors ... but a site can be up and making money in 15 minutes.

    • Porn webmasters are largely unprofessional ... but you don't need a college degree to make a good living.

Having been in this biz for 6.5 years, I think it has grown & improved a LOT. I think its split into 2 the last few years ... professional business & not professional business.

The bad ones are getting easier to spot now too!!! LOL

Sorry, that was a bit off ibill topic - i try to change the subject whenever it comes up or i cry about my lost rebills :bush:

Well I apologize for probably getting brusque there.

On the positive side, I have found that the margins in porn are much greater and there is lots of opportunity in this industry. All my websites are basically extensions of topics I find interesting, so I consider it a feat to be able to awaken every day and work on stuff that I would naturally enjoy anyway.

In a little over a year I have really been able to turn my life around from living in penury, to actually being able to afford living like an adult - owning a car, taking a trip in an airplane. So it is silly to overreact.

I do not pretend to be an expert on any of this. Still, this damn problem with Falcon is exasperating.
