    SEO and hubs

How much emphasis do you put on optmizing each individual site within your hub ? Do you submit them individually to the search engines ?

I do some SEO on each site...but nothing researched. I come up with key words for each site, and work them into the metatags and text. My small niche sites end up with Google PR's from 1 thru 3, so only the less popular keywords (ie., microniche) seem to get hits.

These days I submit the small sites only to Google and Yahoo search engines (and, of course, a hell of a lot of link lists and a few top lists!)

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

In effect, your hub site itself should be SEO'd for the basic terms.. porn, gay, free, etc etc

The sites that you link to from your hub should be the ones that are optimized for more specific search terms

seo work should be every ones top priority but I know its bottom on most peoples list. But trust me when you get #1 in google or yahoo and see the type of traffic you are getting, you will start paying more attention to your SEO work!

    cheers,

I have been so focused on SEO recently.. and the more I learn.. the more and more complex it gets. It is very difficult work, but you're right.. once the traffic comes in you start paying more attention! :-D

Thanks everyone for your input. Putting more emphasis on SEO might be the determining factor of who does well and who falls behind.

I've been hanging around google for a while and what I've noticed is that even very small 1 and 2 page sites are getting extremely high rankings, sometimes at #1.

That gives me hope that if one takes the time to optimize every site to the fullest extent, traffic could grow exponentially with every site.

I was also amazed that keywords from some domains with 20+ words or 20 directories down from the domain roots were pulling in #1 spots.
