I Wonder? Who is old enough to remember... ?

    Red Barn Restaurants?

When I was a little kid (around 4 years to 7 years old) it used to be my favourite place for a hamburger, and I even had my 4th or 5th birthday there, similar to how kids have their birthdays at McDonalds nowadays.

Check out this great link: http://barnbuster.homestead.com/

That is hilarious. And I do remember them, thos big red buildings.

The converted ours to a Burger Chef and the barn facade as removed, then a pizza place. Last I heard, it was a real estate office.

Ah, nostalgia.... Suki is getting old :howl: :howl:

LOL...well, I hate to admit it but I do remember them.

I also remember the days before McDonalds and Burger King, the only places we went to eat "fast food" was was the A&W Rootbeer stands and Currens drive ups...all drive in resturants. They served you with trays that hung on your windows...yup, I is an old one!

I remember Red Barn and even the slogan, "when the hungries hit, hit the Red Barn".

There is a vacant Red Barn in my neighborhood here in Oakland.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't part of Masters of the Universe take place at a Red Barn?

By the way, here's a trailer from Masters of the Universe. (Is Dolph Lungren HOT, or what?)

I've never heard of Red Barn .. are they a southern thing like the Pigly Wiggly?

"the only places we went to eat "fast food" was was the A&W Rootbeer stands and Currens drive ups...all drive in resturants. They served you with trays that hung on your windows...yup, I is an old one!"

I do remember that! Before all the fast food places .. the one that started it all in the Northwest was Dairy Queen... and BurgerVille.. I loved BurgerVille and their special sauce yum! Ooohhh and Norths Chuck Wagon... where it's all you can eat and you serve yourself out of a wagon type thing

    Where are Red Barns located?

    I feel old

I can remember eating at Red Barn on the way to work when I was a supervisor for a cable company (long before the big conglomorates like Comcast and RoadRunner)

I had totally forgotten about them... thanks for some pleasant memories!

Here's a brief history right from the website.
The chain started in the early 60's in Dayton, OH by a man named Harry Barmier, it was called The Red Barn System. It was sold in the late 60's to a company called Servomation (food vending) and became Red Barn Restaurants Inc..

After many successful years, The Red Barn chain was sold again in the late 70s, this time to Motel 6. Over time with little or no advertising, leases ran out and the restaurants closed. In its 20+ year run, the Red Barn operated in 19 states and Canada.
