    anyone have this problem?

recently ive had the weirdest problem with my internet.

when i try & go to a url in my browser, or ftp into a site, it times out as if i am not connected or there is a dns problem. upon a second attempt, it connects just fine and speeds are great.

the cable company thinks im nuts.

a friend using her laptop in the house on the same wireless network doesnt have this problem, so i am assuming its something on my computer. however, i havent changed anything & this just started happening one day...

    anyone have any ideas?

Hummm, have you ran Ad-aware or Spybot?

Anytime my puter acts like it's on crack I use both of these programs.
If that fails get the VX2cleaner plugin for Ad-aware, then run it again.

im using a mac. no adware or spyware.

i also tried plugging directly in, not using wireless, and i get the same problem.

i think im gonna delete all traces of internet connections and start fresh

Sure, I'm always full of ideas, among other things...

OSX has had problems with issues related to DHCP, and since you're on a home lan I assume that's how you have your router set up (it's the default setup for most home routers)? Try switching from a DHCP setup on the inside to static IP addressing with NAT. Bet the problem goes away....

you know.. i was having that problem with my mac, too.

But I ran the Virex update, and it went away.. although it said it didn't find a virus.

    So.. I have no idea.

i am not a mac expert, but in cases like this I have found clearing out your cache and your cookies then doing a reboot seems to help.

    good luck!

    cheers,

Maybe it's a comcast thing... half the time it takes GWW like 10-40 seconds to load. The browser says the page is done. but there isn't any text. So maybe it's just the cable company getting back into the swing of things after all the storms....? I'm sure there was a lot damaged during, so mabye they are fixing them.
You'll get more with a kind word and a 2 by 4 then you'll get with just a kind word.
