    interesting quip regarding the election

CNN ran a story tonight talking about the issues that drove the voters yesterday. It was stated that the number 1 issue among voters who turned out, was morality. Ok, let me get this straight? if we want to live a good and moral life, we should vote for a president who lies, panders to corporations, and lobbyists?

I just don;t understand how we continue to let this happen. The biggest problem facing our country is quite frankly lobbyists and large corporations. How is it that 60% of all corporations in America
paid NO INCOME tax? These are the same companies who pay their CEO obscenely high salaries, while they move their production plants overseas and pay slave wages to workers with no rights. The people of the US need to stand up and make change. If corporations want to participate in our marketplace, take profit and do business, they need to be responsible corporate citizens. Which means paying fair wages, pariticipating in their local communities, and most of all, paying taxes. It seems like we have moved back 50 years in the USA when it comes to these issues. We are doing a fine job of rolling back all the progress and rights obtained through blood sweat and tears during the 1900-1960 period.

to these people, moral only refers to sex.

look at the recent issues that stirred them up -

    porn online
    adult stores
    gay marriage
    abortion

they have a very skewed version of what morality actually is. killing 100,000 iraqi civilians is moral somehow. but seeing a naked person online is not.

It's interesting that you would make those points specifically, since these "moral" and "religious" voters, also coincidentally, are the largest consumers of the things you listed? Interesting wouldn't you agree?
