yahoo groups is a joke

so i'm trying to help a friend setup a yahoo group for their family nudist group near houston. however we're pretty much given up

1. altho there is a category for nudist/naturist, it is against yahoo terms to have the words nude or nudist in the group title, description or email address.

2. nudist/naturist groups are considered adult material and only 18+ users can access them

3. there are no other nudist groups that we can find

go figure

oh and #4...

even though there is an existing category to put naturist & nudist groups into, searching for either of these terms shows zero results, which means even if we created a group, no one could find it.

Never understood them myself. Although I am a member of a few - I seem to be more active on a few forums. These days - it is usually better just to get your own domain, set up a forum, membership, etc to "act" like Yahoo! Groups

Dawgy, there are 3rd parties that list Adult Yahoo Groups. I don't what they are, but try googling 'adult yahoo groups'

I'm not even sure I have ever been to a yahoo group. What are they exactly? Is it like the aol chat community things? The only thing i've done in the last 8 years since giving up my chat room addiction is message boards.

If you go here and search for "nudist" you'll find tons of them.

Seems the way to get around it might be to make it all one word. It looks like "naturistsover40" was just established in March of this year.

I use yahoogroups in our members section. more as a way to e-mail out daily cam caps to all the members who want them, than for people searching though the groups, especially as they no longer store attachments
