Hello US Federal budget... Goodbye abortion!

    And so it begins...

It's good to know that a bill being passed concerning the budget and funding had a little rider snuck in that will seriously affect women's ability to receive access to and information on abortions if they so choose.

Wonder what other gnarly little things were tucked in to that bill that we've yet to hear about.

Yep... it's just the beginning of a long downward spiral.

It's a real shame that government would like to regulate every aspect of a person's life. Whether abortion is right or wrong is a moot point in the matter because it's the woman that has to deal with the issues surrounding it. It would be like the government trying to tell you who can and cannot drink (that's over 21). It's their body, they're old enough to choose and it's bad for you as well..

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

Its quite astounding that these bills get passed prior to an actual 'person' reading them over thouroughly and having them re-read by someone else prior to being sent to the house.

Wasnt there something over the last couple of days like this also?

    Regards,

    Lee

Yeah there was. There was the provision thrown in - and luckily caught - that would have allowed 2 legislators in particular (both Reps) to access and read over the tax returns of every single American.

Both parties are saying they had nothing to do with it and eventually that text was scrapped. But it very nearly became law before caught.

It's a major problem with this kind of legislation. Riders and snuck in clauses always happen. But when you have a lame duck congress itching to retire for this session and go back home to their districts and a major bill - like this funding bill - on the table that needs to be passed in order for the government to be able to operate, everyone's in a hurry to just pass the damn thing and call it a day. So things are rushed and there's pressure and everyone's in a hurry and so it's the absolute perfect time to sneak something in to the legislation that no one will catch before it's too late.

And even if it is caught, many times people will so "Oh fuck it, just let it stay there." cuz they wanna pass the whole bill and get it the hell over with anyways.
